Mine was pretty awesome! FI gave me my early birthday present Friday when he got home from watch. My first gun!
I've been wanting it since like April and I'm surprised he remembered. I just wanted a fun shooting gun, something I could shoot with not much of a recoil. So.. he got me a pink mossy oak Remington 597 rifle, a little .22
So we went with a bunch of his friends to some outdoor range and shot. Had a blast. Yesterday was pretty nice, we had our engagement shoot. We didn't do much of what we wanted - I wanted a field, some Oak Tree's. But.. that's okay. Because our wedding reception has huge Oak Tree's and I think we are going to stop out at a field on the way to the reception. So it works out. We went to Saint Augustine and had a ton of fun. I'm a little pissed about my makeup artist. I choose her due to references and some pictures for the wedding and would get $25 off if she did my engagement session. My eyes looked really good.. but I explained to her - I don't wear face make up ever and I wanted it really natural. So what does she do?? Layers it on! It took me a full 30 minutes to get it off of my face! I seriously wanted to cry. So.. I'm looking for a new makeup artist now, FI gave me the idea of having someone do it for his commands christmas party to try them out that way. So I think I will.
But how was everyone elses weekend? Anything exciting?!
Re: How was everyone's weekend??
Weekend was good. I went to an engagement party on Saturday and then hurried back to write a paper. I am so over this class.
Last night after work, FI asked if we were doing a big send off and what I wanted to do. Then proceeded to tell me he was trying to work something out for us to have a nice jacked up truck(we're totally country!), so that made me feel ahh-mazing that he thought of something on his own and was working it out himself to make it happen. It's a first so I was excited and can't wait to see what else he comes up with on his own

The other thing you could do is go to a makeup counter at Nordstroms and have them do makeup. Tell them you're trying to find the right items to have it for your wedding. If you like how they do it, ask them if they'd be willing to do your makeup for the wedding. It's a much lower investment. I have a friend who had a makeup counter girl do her makeup for the wedding and it cost her $50, plus the products ($100). A little pricey, but she got to keep the products!
Crown - How much longer do you have that class for? Its almost end of semester right?
Shay - Ya for big trucks and new phones! That's pretty stinking awesome in my opinion and I can't wait to see pictures of it!!
Kara - How was Jack and Jill? I've been kind of wanting to see it!
Irish how fun! I love new cookware! It always makes cooking more fun, or at least exciting. I've been in a huge cooking slump lately and I havent wanted to cook much of anything.
[QUOTE]AMH, have you looked into airbrush? A lot of people who don't like makeup really like airbrush because it doesn't feel heavy. You do need to use makeup remover to get it off, but it isn't cakey and heavy. I do wear makeup every day, but usually just blush and mascara, but I hate heavy foundations and airbrush felt super light. It looked like my skin... only better. I've heard a lot of great things about airbrush. Ill definitely give it a try if I don't end up using this lady. :)
fire- thank you! I need that every so often.
There's a rumor that the re-class boards have met and made decisions, but nothing solid yet, so we'll see. It could either be a very happy Thanksgiving or very depressed.
Shay, yay for new phones! I'm waiting until April when I'm due for a renewal so I'll get a discount, but I'm definitely getting the iPhone!!!
AMH, I did see the gun on Facebook and it's super cute - you should post a pic here!
My weekend was good except for the fact that I had taken my laundry to a laundromat last week for the $0.50/pound wash/dry/fold service (I was lazy and had fallen behind in laundry) and apparently whatever chemicals they used to wash my clothes gave me the world's worst rash. I'm bright red, itchy, and sore all over my chest and back. Luckily I had underpants that had been washed at home, so I didn't have to deal with a rash in unmentionable areas, but man oh man I haven't slept well and I'm so miserably uncomfortable!
Heres a picture of it and of me holding it.
Oh no! Cali - thats horrible!! I'm so sorry! THat sucks big time. I've got sensitive skin to, and can only use Tide or Gain. Anything else gives me a rash from heck. I hope it goes away soon!
Divine - I've heard the Navy's advancement results are close to being released too. We've been keeping everything crossed, legs, fingers, toes lol. Ahh.. I never think about it until someone brings it up - never fails once Nov 1st hits and once someone says something its like stuck in my head. lol. I'm doing my best to forget about it. Good Luck finding the reciepes! I know it gets frustrating trying to find reciepes with family members, especially the older ones - because they're like -- 'oh... that thing. ill have to look i dont know if i have it' GL!
[QUOTE]Irish, wanna share your chili recipe? And when someone wins, wanna share that recipe, too??? Shay, yay for new phones! My mom did this once and the same thing happened to her. She doesn't normally get reactions like this but that time she did. She swears it was what they washed the clothes with. I hope it get better.
AMH, I agree with Kara, wait til you see the pictures... trust me, my cousin did the same thing, and her pictures came out SO BAD... but, I would suggest that you go with a tinted moisturizer and a light setting powder if you really hate it. I don't like foundation either, and that's what I wear on my face. It's so light!
So, my weekend was pretty busy. We found a great deal on a 40in Toshiba TV! $380!!!! We were stoked. So, we got that, then we did some more work on my room, and then we did a tonnnn of wedding stuff! My jams are done!!! Wanna see?
OK!
EEEKKK I think they're sooo cute!
So, I have been trying to decorate my new space, and have been having so much trouble trying to do so! It's so plain in there! I need help. Maybe I should post pictures of the room now and get you all to help... hmmmm...
[QUOTE]CAB your jams are ADORABLE! They're soooo cute and what an awesome display! Where'd you get the logo sticker?

Cal, I'm proud to announce my chili was runner up! It's a Food Network Magazine recipe that I'll try to find and link. The winner is keeping mum on what he did, but it was a similar style to mine.

Awesome! Now I definitely want your recipe!!! Congrats!
My secret ingredient is "Liquid Smoke" - it's sold for like $4 per bottle here at the grocery store, and you can buy mesquite or hickory (I think there are other options, but I own those two). You just add a few drops to anything and it gets this delicious slow cooked smokey taste - it's fantastic in chili! I also put it in cream cheese last night for my jalapeno poppers and FI swore up and down they were the best he's ever tasted.

We saute a raw, diced jalepeno with the garlic and onions for more heat. But it's definitely not killer, so you could play around with it if heat is really your thing. Hotter than "mild" chilis but not burning your mouth off. The brown sugar carmelization was key to my 2nd place victory--everyone commented on a nice balance of sweet and hot. We also slow cook the hell out of it, basically it can't be over done. I think it was going for close to 10 hours for this competition with cooking and reheating etc. I would definitely throw smoke in the slow cooker after adding everything else to kick it up!!
