How was everyone's weekend??

Mine was pretty awesome! FI gave me my early birthday present Friday when he got home from watch. My first gun! :) I've been wanting it since like April and I'm surprised he remembered. I just wanted a fun shooting gun, something I could shoot with not much of a recoil. So.. he got me a pink mossy oak Remington 597 rifle, a little .22 :) So we went with a bunch of his friends to some outdoor range and shot. Had a blast. Yesterday was pretty nice, we had our engagement shoot. We didn't do much of what we wanted - I wanted a field, some Oak Tree's. But.. that's okay. Because our wedding reception has huge Oak Tree's and I think we are going to stop out at a field on the way to the reception. So it works out. We went to Saint Augustine and had a ton of fun. I'm a little pissed about my makeup artist. I choose her due to references and some pictures for the wedding and would get $25 off if she did my engagement session. My eyes looked really good.. but I explained to her - I don't wear face make up ever and I wanted it really natural. So what does she do?? Layers it on! It took me a full 30 minutes to get it off of my face! I seriously wanted to cry. So.. I'm looking for a new makeup artist now, FI gave me the idea of having someone do it for his commands christmas party to try them out that way. So I think I will.

But how was everyone elses weekend? Anything exciting?! Smile

That sounds like a really fun weekend.  I loved the make up I got done for my bridal pictures however the guy that did my make up then left the place and they put me with another person.  I didn't know until I got there.  ANNOYED to say the least.    It was fine but I really didn't like the make up done by the lady there for the wedding.  It looks ok in the pictures but I really liked thg guy better.  Poop on him for leaving!!!

Weekend was good.  I went to an engagement party on Saturday and then hurried back to write a paper.  I am so over this class.

I worked all weekend and it was so quiet and slow. Which means nothing bad was happening but still, it makes for a boring 12 hour day. Saturday night I went and got the new iPhone 4S, and I've been talking to Siri like she's my new best friend! You can ask all kinds of crazy questions. When I asked her what the meaning of life is, she answered with 'All evidence to date suggests it's chocolate' lol. This is the first time I've ever really wanted the newest phone that was out, and I'm so glad I talked myself into spending the money on it.
Last night after work, FI asked if we were doing a big send off and what I wanted to do. Then proceeded to tell me he was trying to work something out for us to have a nice jacked up truck(we're totally country!), so that made me feel ahh-mazing that he thought of something on his own and was working it out himself to make it happen. It's a first so I was excited and can't wait to see what else he comes up with on his own  :)

    Hey ladies!

Amh: Glad you had such a fun weekend! Can't wait to see your e-pics, I love seeing e-pics! I think you should wait to see how your pictures turn out first before totally getting rid of this MUA. Sometimes, what looks too much in person actually looks very natural in pictures, this might be what she had done to you or maybe you just aren't used to it since you don't wear make up often? Just my suggestion.

H and I had a good weekend. We saw a couple of movies, one was Jack & Jill and the other was a Filipino movie, it was his first one ever and we both really liked it. Yesterday we went out for a run so now I am sore, we really want to get back into shape from when we first met. We also finally checked out the beach here and we went shopping at the Commisary, it was so crowded, I have to be sure not to go there on Sundays anymore! And last night, we looked at our rewards points on the CC and we had so much we decided to get the Visa rewards card, so yay for free $500! We're planning on using it on our Xmas shopping!

amh- whoa, your FI stands watch? Seriously, I don't know how our FI's don't know each other.

suhweet about your birthday present! happy early bday!

crown- how much longer is class?

I enjoyed my weekend. Overall, despite having classes to attend, it was a relaxing weekend with FI in Norfolk/VA beach/Williamsburg. It was nice to spend time with his friends before their orders move them overseas. Hopefully we'll make it back to visit/help them pack early next year before they leave.

Unfortunately I have to get back to my schedule now- I'm working today through Wednesday and I need to start studying for my 2nd nursing exam... and start cleaning/sorting through things at my apartment and get ready for michigan later this week (and I'm sure it'll be cold, boo).

Blah, not happy to be at work on a Monday morning, but we have a chili cook-off at our all-hands meeting today, should be fun! It's the first time I'm entering. I hope it doesn't suck!! Eeek. I was on a bit of a cooking spree last night--made the chili, lasagna soup aaand pickled asparagus! Plus we picked up a bunch of our wedding presents from H's parents so we finallllly have new cookware, silverware and dishes. Yayy!

Amh, that sucks about the makeup--you really want to love what you get done so I hope you can find someone else!!

AMH- I'm thinking the same as Kara. Do you think she was trying to make you look good for the pictures? I hope that's all it was. If you're an outgoing person, maybe call her and ask why she put so much on. Maybe to her it wasn't that much but to you it was? Anyone in the field of making money by pleasing people usually tries their hardest to make a customer happy. Maybe she'd be willing to do another trial(for free) to see if she can make the changes you'd like.

AMH, have you looked into airbrush?  A lot of people who don't like makeup really like airbrush because it doesn't feel heavy.  You do need to use makeup remover to get it off, but it isn't cakey and heavy.  I do wear makeup every day, but usually just blush and mascara, but I hate heavy foundations and airbrush felt super light.  It looked like my skin... only better.

The other thing you could do is go to a makeup counter at Nordstroms and have them do makeup.  Tell them you're trying to find the right items to have it for your wedding.  If you like how they do it, ask them if they'd be willing to do your makeup for the wedding.  It's a much lower investment.  I have a friend who had a makeup counter girl do her makeup for the wedding and it cost her $50, plus the products ($100).  A little pricey, but she got to keep the products!

Kara and Shay - You know that is actually a really great point. I think I'll send her an email once I get them back letting her know how it went. She sent me and email asking, but I'm kind of not wanting to reply right away. I don't like critizing other peoples work, ya know? FI was upset that I was upset but he was upset that I didn't say anything. He has that whole mentality of your paying someone to do something it should be what you want. I just didn't want to hurt her feelings. But if I do use her for the wedding I will make a point to let her know I was upset that she was late, and i'll probably give her an earlier timeframe. I'll probably let her know that I don't want so much applied this time.

Crown - How much longer do you have that class for? Its almost end of semester right?
Shay - Ya for big trucks and new phones! That's pretty stinking awesome in my opinion and I can't wait to see pictures of it!!
Kara - How was Jack and Jill? I've been kind of wanting to see it!

Irish how fun! I love new cookware! It always makes cooking more fun, or at least exciting. I've been in a huge cooking slump lately and I havent wanted to cook much of anything.

amh: I know that you don't like to do it, but your FI is right, if you are playing X amount of money, make sure that person is doing their job to your liking. I know it sucks having to tell someone that, but you'll have to. But like I said, see how your pictures come out first. My MUA told me that about make up by the way. Also, C makes a great point about airbursh make up, but I just wanted to add airbrush isn't for everyone too, it doesn't always look good on everybody. It really just depends what your preference will be and how your skin willl react to any kind of make up. I know Jack & Jill got awful reviews but H and I really liked it. It seems to be like that with every Adam Sandler movie though, although critics say it sucks, people like it anyway. lol

fire: Yes we are! How was your time in Norfolk? Did you have some fun at least? I know you were down here for work.

We had a pretty quiet weekend, decided to host a few people for Thanksgiving, so I've been calling around for family recipes (especially this cheddar/pineapple/Ritz cracker thing that I think is disgusting but FI loooves). FI ended up working concessions all day on Saturday during the Blue Angels air show, he was supposed to only work the early shift, but they were so slammed he was there all day.

There's a rumor that the re-class boards have met and made decisions, but nothing solid yet, so we'll see. It could either be a very happy Thanksgiving or very depressed.

Irish, wanna share your chili recipe?  And when someone wins, wanna share that recipe, too???

Shay, yay for new phones!  I'm waiting until April when I'm due for a renewal so I'll get a discount, but I'm definitely getting the iPhone!!!

AMH, I did see the gun on Facebook and it's super cute - you should post a pic here!

My weekend was good except for the fact that I had taken my laundry to a laundromat last week for the $0.50/pound wash/dry/fold service (I was lazy and had fallen behind in laundry) and apparently whatever chemicals they used to wash my clothes gave me the world's worst rash.  I'm bright red, itchy, and sore all over my chest and back.  Luckily I had underpants that had been washed at home, so I didn't have to deal with a rash in unmentionable areas, but man oh man I haven't slept well and I'm so miserably uncomfortable!

Oh no! Cali - thats horrible!! I'm so sorry! THat sucks big time. I've got sensitive skin to, and can only use Tide or Gain. Anything else gives me a rash from heck. I hope it goes away soon!

Divine - I've heard the Navy's advancement results are close to being released too. We've been keeping everything crossed, legs, fingers, toes lol. Ahh.. I never think about it until someone brings it up - never fails once Nov 1st hits and once someone says something its like stuck in my head. lol. I'm doing my best to forget about it. Good Luck finding the reciepes! I know it gets frustrating trying to find reciepes with family members, especially the older ones - because they're like -- 'oh... that thing. ill have to look i dont know if i have it' GL!

    Hey guys!
AMH, I agree with Kara, wait til you see the pictures... trust me, my cousin did the same thing, and her pictures came out SO BAD... but, I would suggest that you go with a tinted moisturizer and a light setting powder if you really hate it. I don't like foundation either, and that's what I wear on my face. It's so light!

So, my weekend was pretty busy. We found a great deal on a 40in Toshiba TV! $380!!!! We were stoked. So, we got that, then we did some more work on my room, and then we did a tonnnn of wedding stuff! My jams are done!!! Wanna see?

    OK!

EEEKKK I think they're sooo cute!

So, I have been trying to decorate my new space, and have been having so much trouble trying to do so! It's so plain in there! I need help. Maybe I should post pictures of the room now and get you all to help... hmmmm...

I had a pretty busy weekend. Transforming into a pretty busy week. Our final presentation for my big field project is on Friday. We still have a crap ton of stuff to do. It might get moved to next Monday, but I have a test that day and that would overall be a bad idea.

I FINALLY addressed my STDs and sat down and did my guest list. I have been dreading it so much. 139 people are invited. 19 more than I originally wanted. But if we get 120 people coming to the wedding, I don't know where those extra people will sit. It was pretty packed when I set up 15 tables in there so I can't imagine adding more people. But, I can't imagine having a 100% rsvp rate. Now I just gotta take them to the Post office and get post card stamps. WOO!

Awesome!  Now I definitely want your recipe!!!  Congrats!

My secret ingredient is "Liquid Smoke" - it's sold for like $4 per bottle here at the grocery store, and you can buy mesquite or hickory (I think there are other options, but I own those two).  You just add a few drops to anything and it gets this delicious slow cooked smokey taste - it's fantastic in chili!  I also put it in cream cheese last night for my jalapeno poppers and FI swore up and down they were the best he's ever tasted.

Oh I love liquid smoke!! But I've never put it in chili!! I bet it would be great in this. Ok heres the link, with a few changes I've made over the....months. Hehe I haven't had it that long.

    Clicky

We saute a raw, diced jalepeno with the garlic and onions for more heat. But it's definitely not killer, so you could play around with it if heat is really your thing. Hotter than "mild" chilis but not burning your mouth off. The brown sugar carmelization was key to my 2nd place victory--everyone commented on a nice balance of sweet and hot. We also slow cook the hell out of it, basically it can't be over done. I think it was going for close to 10 hours for this competition with cooking and reheating etc. I would definitely throw smoke in the slow cooker after adding everything else to kick it up!!

kara- I really did enjoy my time in Norfolk. It's one of the few really fun work-related things I do every year, and this time was special because FI came to visit and we got to hang out with his friends-- so I didn't have to deal with my totally beyond drunk friends every night. lol.

amh- One of FI's friends (prior enlisted, now O) mentioned that advancements should be out soon. FI basically said that he'd be shocked if he got advanced this year. Last year the advancement rate for his MOS was 0% and he doesn't anticipate for that to change since they're supposedly phasing out his MOS. It stinks but such is life; I'm just hoping that whatever he ends up transferring into in the long run is something that he will enjoy as much as he enjoys his current MOS.

Cal- question (totally a threadjack too)- have you looked at wedding bands to go with your setting or are you going custom? My ring is (sorta) similar and I'm just curious what you're doing.
