[QUOTE]TeamBaby: like I said, it would depend on the stage of the relationship. If it's that serious and you've talked marriage, then have the quickie JOP. I only used us as an example because people always use location whether both AD or not as the reason they rush the wedding. Im also not opposed to JOP and a big celebration later on. I know people who have done this, my parents this a JOP and a big Catholic wedding later on, I was even the flower girl. Its up to the couple how they would want to handle the situation. Like I said earlier, <strong>its just the lying that pisses me off.

Yeah, I get that.  I just wanted to talk about the other situation that sometimes affects AD.  Since what's mostly discussed on here is the extra BAH.

I’ve been lurking since October… have posted a few times, but anyway-

    1) I’m from NJ, he’s from Green Bay,
    2) We met in Philly in October of 2009 – began dating around that time.  (We have no idea what date specifically, it just sort of progressed into what it is)  And we’ve been engaged since last Sunday =)
    3) The wedding will take place sometime next spring.  No dates yet, we’re just enjoying being engaged.
    4)He is Navy

Yeah, this makes sense.  If you're ready to get married anyway, then it clearly makes no sense to wait 4 years when if you speed things up a bit you can likely spend those together.

For me, I'm not religious, so hosting another ceremony later would be faking it.  However, if someone really wants a Church wedding and cannot get it in the time constraints allowed by the situation, I can see having a big convalidation ceremony later.

  • Hi!  I've only posted a few times, but I'd like to get involved more, especially since I'm currently not living near any type of military community.  I might be a little late on this thread, but here are my answers!

How long you and so have been together?
Engaged, married etc.  We've been together for around 3.5 years, and have been married for 2 months!
Whens the wedding? We got married December 30, 2011...it was amazing.
    What branch? Army
Favorite food? Ooo that's a tough one..I LOVE food.  Probably ice cream.  Right now I'm waiting for Jimmy Johns to deliver my turkey sub since they sent me the wrong one at first which was tuna...I hate tuna!
Favorite book?  Probably between Freakonomics and The Help.

More about me and H:  I'm currently finishing school, and  I graduate in May with a degree in Math and Econ woot woot!  I also work at a consulting firm.  H is at BOLC, and I'm excited to go visit him over my spring break in a couple weeks.  After that, we're headed south-ish to our first duty station.

    Any other questions? Smile

    Beautiful!
  • tidd- thanks :)

cal- I haven't ever seen the musical, but I really want to... so unfortuantely, I can't say... maybe I will find the musical and watch it sometime in the next few weeks- if I do I will let you know. Seriously, I need to...

If you read it, totally read the unabridged one. I first read it when I was 8; I was running out of books in the library and I was fascinated with how big it was (2,000 pages) and the librarian telling me that "they made a shorter version that would be easier for me to read" made me want to read it even more. My parents bought me a version of the unabridged book after that because I liked it so much. I've read it at least 5 times. In AP Literature, we had to read the abridged version and it really irritated me... because I've read the unabridged one, and things that I felt were important to the story were left out; plus it made testing more confusing, because in essay questions, I would mention things that weren't present in the abridged version, and the teacher thought I was making them up...

yeah, that probably should be a "nerd girl problem" poster........

  • Fire, that totally would have happened to me as a kid!  But for me, I was also a theater nerd, so I was the 8 year old reading Romeo & Juliet and Taming of the Shrew.  I left the political ones until I was older, like King Lear.

I also failed my 6th grade English class because they wanted me to stop reading every 60 pages and write a report on what I predicted was going to happen on the next 60 pages and reflect on what I'd read so far.  But I have always read like a starving fat kid on a hamburger - I'll get through 200 pages in a shot and not stop for anything.  So my parents understood that, and tried to talk to the teacher about maybe cutting it into start, middle, and end of the book rather than every 60 pages, but she wouldn't bend.  I had read easily 10x as many books as any of my classmates, but I failed the class because I didn't follow her rules.

Did we have the same english teachers? lol

my solution to that was just like it was to them wanting rough, first, second and final drafts..... I wrote my paper (I edit in my head or as I write a sentence), then changed to smaller, more boring vocab words for the second draft, then added senseless commas for the first, then deleted whole sentences and effed up spelling on purpose for the rough draft. I just couldn't ever write a paper without doing it this way, because I was always ready to turn in my rough draft as my final paper otherwise.

  • I feel like I'm late on this, but I'm avoiding writing an essay for school so...

    1. We are both from Maryland. He's currently in FL and I'm in Vegas. We've been together almost 2 years.
    2. Engaged!
    3. Wedding is August 10, 2012.
    4. He's in the Navy.
    5. I'm in culinary and honestly love everything. Absolute favorite though would be pasta, lobster, crabs and old bay, mussels, cheesecake, and avocados. Not all together though haha
    6. The French Laundry cookbook. Does that count?

So hello everyone! I don't get on very much, but come by every once and awhile when I'm procrastinating from homework.
