Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Recessional Song Ideas!!

I am having a guitarist play my ceremony music.  My wedding party is walking down the isle to an acoustic version of Fields of Gold by Sting and I will be walking to an acoustic version of I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden.
I'm stuck on my recessional song!!  I know I want our guitarist to play it, but maybe something more upbeat and on the electric guitar.  We are not big fans of most modern pop music (Our song is The World Can't Tear Us Apart by Trivium) and we would like something a little more edgy but love themed.
Any ideas?

Re: Recessional Song Ideas!!

  • I don't know many contemporary songs (regardless of genre) so I can't help.

  • we've mostly kept our recessional a secret because we want the guest reaction to be laughter (yes, we really do) but I'll share it here.

we're "recessing" to Mahna Mahna from the Muppets.

is there something fun like that you guys would like?

  • I think we're going to walk down to "All You Need is Love". I had friends walk down to "Don't Stop Believing" (of course, the Glee version). I love the idea of walking down to something fun and upbeat.

  • We did Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins.  I thought it was awesome!

  • Our recessional will be "If it's Love" by Train...it's fun upbeat and I think a great way to leave the ceremony.  That and some of our theme is love birds and the "two birds of a feather" just fits right in.
  • We're using Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne.. If youre getting married in a church I don't think this song would work.. buuuut here are some other good ones..
-Another one bites the dust by queen
-End of the World As We Know It by REM
    -HIghway to Hell
    -Married with Children theme song
In my opinion it should be a funny song that gets everybody ready to celebrate and party for the reception.

    That is FANTASTIC!

I would just go through the music you listen to often and see what pumps you up. The first song that pops up for me is, "Don't stop believing" by Journey and anything by Springsteen. Good luck.

This is a link to a list of popular bar songs, which might seem strange, but I've never been to a bar without getting pumped up fairly quickly.

    Good luck.

  • We're planning on doing an instrumental version of "All You Need is Love", but I love some of the other suggestions.. don't tempt me!
  • We are using Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder! I want all contemporary music. I'm walking down the aisle to Train's Marry Me and before I walk down the aisle, my fiance is goign to sweat it out to Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure! I have a friend who walked down the aisle to the theme song from Back to the Future and it was awesome! I love when there is fun and laughter! Weddings shouldn't be uptight or stuffy! Good luck!
  • We're walking back down the isle to "This Will Be" by Natalie Cole...It's upbeat and fun :)
