Anyone around?

I think that's what we're going to do, adopt an angel from the angel tree at the BX instead of buying ourselves more of what we don't really need. Also, maybe go through his toys and pass along the ones that are still in perfect condition because he hasn't played with it but 2 times since he got it a year ago.

I've tried hard his whole life to explain the story of Santa as well as the actual meaning of Christmas instead of going crazy about presents. It kind of ticks me off anyway that this outrageous nonfictional character gets credit for all of the crap I bought with my hard earned money but whatevs, I can't change the world ;-)

Shay, that's part of our challenge.  We're not religious, so for us, Christmas is cultural rather than spiritual.  And I don't always like what Christmas says about our culture - materialistic, competitive ("Santa brought me an XBox, what did he bring you?").  It's really hard to establish what Christmas means in your family, since they'll face so many outside influences from friends and classmates.  As a little child, I got really indignant because my parents said Santa brought presents to only good boys and girls, and the bully on the school playground who kicked me while waiting in line every day got great presents and I was pissed.

Jumping in here late, Shay, can you find the leap pad anywhere? My sister has been looking and it's sold out. 

And the christmas thing, I was thinking about it this weekend as I was shopping for decorations with my mom and sister. My mom bought a nativity set. We always had a nativity set growing up and my parents always put baby Jesus out before we woke up Christmas morning and we had to go say happy birthday before opening gifts. I am not a practicing Catholic so much right now, but at the same time, I couldn't imagine not having some kind of nativity set in my house. I don't know why and I can't explain it, except that it is something I grew up with and always had respect for I guess? I don't even know.

We just did a quick google shopping search and found them as low as $45. I didn't actually go through and see if they were sold out, I just figured I'd check tomorrow and try to catch a CM sale. I'll let you know if I find anything tonight though!
