FI and I volunteered Saturday as usual, my wedding invites came in, and I addressed 90% of them. Go me!

BUT we went hiking at all Saturday and camped it that night. soo sore today. :)

Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

I spent a lot of the weekend out and about catching up with friends. I also got tons of care package stuff so I can get one out in the next week. :) All FI wants is more Goldfish crackers and Teddy Grahams. Haha.

FTL, Late August, so they really need to go out, like, now.

haha yeah it's definitely about that time for you... We're late September so we have a little big, but not too much. But HEY you got 90% done and ready. :)

My weekend wasn't exciting...I was slaving away at my job :(  No exciting summer plans for me.  FI and I haven't seen in each other in quite a while and had a pretty big argument tonight...We decided we need some alone time together and need to get away and do something...so that should be fun.

And no care packages as my FI is stateside :)

On the upside, now that I'm making good money, I think I'm going to get my hair highlighted.lowlighted again because I've been slacking with it ( my hair is curly, I can get away with roots lol) the last time it was done was January so I'm pretty excited!

I had a weird weekend. I'd say crappy but I actually had some fun. Friday I went out with FSIL, who informed me that she's moving back home. Unexpected, but not a big deal. We went to the little wine shop around the corner from my house where I'm friends with the owner and the sommelier. So we did the tasting, and they kept filling my glass. Then I bought a bottle and I drank most of that, though I did share. So I was wasted and ended up drunk dialing my brother and his girlfriend (separately... Two hilariously affectionate voicemails). I'm a loving drunk. Saturday I nursed a hangover and then went to this Tough Mudder training that the sommelier (who is also a mountain biker and adventure seeker) had organized. For those who don't know Tough Mudder, google it. It's intense! So the first obstacle was to climb this hill made of sand that slipped from under your feet with each step. I tried to grab on to some of the underbrush to help pull me up, but whatever I grabbed had needles with barbs. I had dozens of them deep in my skin, and my body had a "fight or flight" response and I nearly passed out. So much for that workout! I jogged the rest but I couldn't do the obstacles, which was a bummer! Then tonight I met up with some friends to go play Bingo. We met at my friend Ashley's house, and Jennifer had her two little dogs there that immediately went into attack mode the moment I walked in the door. I got bit twice before I kicked the thing! I couldn't help it, I tried to push them away after the first bite, but once I got bit again I kicked it! Jennifer was super apologetic, but still let her dogs chase me around the house while she halfheartedly chased after while holding her wine glass. I was pissed! Control your damned dogs and teach them obedience!!! Then at the restaurant, I managed to get my toe caught under the lip of the base of the table as I was standing and I ripped my toenail nearly all the way off. So needless to say, I'm a walking disaster. I did have fun going out with FSIL, and trying to train for the race, and playing bingo.... But no so much the barbs that are still stuck in my hand or the three wounds (two bites and my hanging toenail) on my feet!!!

Calindi- ouch ouch and more ouch. I'm sorry :(

C- You are a mess!! I was loling. You need my cell number so I can get affectionate voicemails. Actually, I usually answer my phone, even I suspect the caller has been drinking, I find it fun! And you are a brave woman doing a Tough Mudder, H wants to do one, but that is one thing that I want no part of. I don't play in the mud.

Stan-I am super impressed with you!! I think it took me 2 days to our invites, but we only sent out like 60, so I just did half one day and half the other. I did my TY's all the same day while watching "Despicable Me". Where did you volunteer?

Green-H and I are doing the same thing. I feel bad because I know alot of couples don't even get to take a honeymoon, and we had one, and are planning like a 2nd honeymoon/vaction, but I mean, when he comes home it will have been over a year since we saw each other, so we're going to the beach for a week (it'll be in January so there will be lots of snuggling!!), just the 2 of us to get to know each other again, we deserve it right? And congrats on your hair!

Meg-Those are 2 things that I need to get for H! I really like putting packages together!!

First- Hiking/Camping is not an activity for this girl! We went (my first time camping ever) in Japan, on an island that had tame wild deer, spiders, not to mention that it was like a million degrees out side, and I started my "pottery class"(what I have to call AF so that H doesn't get all immature and stupid about the fact that I have a period). We paid to stay out there for a week. We stayed one night and I said "If you don't take me to a hotel so that I can take a shower, I will not marry you" So we hiked the 16 miles back to the ferry and stayed at the first hotel we saw back on the mainland. No more camping for Sami! I don't like being sweaty and hot with no access to a shower and only the shark filled ocean to bathe with, and surrounded by nature with foreign spiders that could kill me and deer that ate my soyjoy bars! (I've gotten bit by a black widow, and a brown recluse, so I don't do spiders, like at all). Other people like it, I do not. You should probably come up with some more questions this week.. Just ya know, for my entertainment!

I will definitely do another 10Q hump day again! :) I like reading everyone's responses.
um.. yeah.. I don't do spiders either.. They totally freak me out. We get some nasty ones here but not until August, so right now is the perfect time since it's just now starting to warm up.. no big spiders yet! The only bad part about going backpacking or camping with FI is that he is an eagle scout, so that's what he grew up doing... so he feels the need to baby step me through helping him set up a tent or start a fire or.. anything.. like. BUDDY. I KNOW. HOW. I promise. I'm a big kid. lol But I know he means welll, and is just excited to share his knowledge from his wonder years haha anyway, the only down side was that I now have about 10GIANT mosquito bites that itch like crazy. My legs look like I have chicken pox haha

I can't believe you've been bit by both of the most deadly spiders!!! O.o You poor woman... Did you have to go to the hospital for the Brown recluse?? We had a black widow in our garage last summer while Ryan was deployed and he didn't believe me because we're in Washington (we have them, just most common on the east side because there's more desert/heat). Those guys are not afraid of anything... Brown Recluses though scare me because it's not like they are big monstrous spiders that make it obvious what they are. O.o scary.
  • edited December 2011
Yeah, I had to go to the hospital. The Black widow wasn't as big of a deal, we had them at the pool I managed and I was trying to deal with a nest and i guess one got on my swimsuit and ended up biting me on my back. I went to urgent care for that, but the brown recluse, I like saw it bite me and I went to my mom and said "please drive me to the hospital, like now." They gave me anti-venom stuff and I had to stay over night. The place that I got bit was nasty though, and it was gross for like a month. I hate all spiders now.

eeeek spider bites get nasty... nasty nasty.. That totally sucks :( Yeah I've heard that the black widows come off a lot more dangerous than they actually are, although you still have to go to the hospital.. but those brown recluses... eeek >_<
You're making me more scared of spiders just talking about it.. lol
The black widow bites remind me of when FI got his smallpox vaccine right before deployment, you know how they get all black and flakey? eeeeew.... lol. I took a buncha pictures of it and posted them on fb to gross everyone out :P :) haha Lots of people thought he had ben bitten by a spider... *shudder*...

Dang I thought this was an old thread resurrected because I was shocked to see 12 posts so early.

Our friend came up from Portland and stayed with us for the weekend.  He just broke up with his girlfriend of 2 and a half years who he lived with, so he just wanted to get out of there while he could.  I feel really bad because I really like her and liked them together, but she wanted to get engaged soon and start having kids within a couple years (by 30), and he doesn't even know if he want kids.  So it was an amicaable break-up since they want different things, but I still am bummed about it.  We had a good time though while he was here.

I need to stop being a fat ass and need to get back on my diet today.  I made funfetti cupcakes with rainbow chip frosting for him while he was here, and I probably ate like 8 of them in 2 days.  Plus fast food, and a million other horrible things in the past few weeks.

Uneventful weekend here, as usual. I work retail so I pretty much always work weekends and nights, which really sucks because FI and I never get to spend any time together. He's up and gone by the time I wake up in the morning, and by the time I get home at night we get about twenty minutes of "us time" before it's time for bed. He's home on weekends, but I somehow usually get stuck with the all day shifts that zap all my energy. And of course the only time I get evenings off is when he's out in the field. I swear my job and his superiors are in cahoots together to make sure we never see each other lol The things you sacrifice for money, right? It will definitely be nice to have a nice amount in savings outside of our wedding fund incase of an emergency. We zapped all our savings in the past six months for family emergencies, so we really need to get back on track!

PS- I hate spiders as well. Our neighbor upstairs killed a big nasty tarantula last week and (because he's sadistic and knows how scared of them I am) put it in a ziplock bag and tacked it to the bulletin board right outside our door. I almost died when I went to walk the dog. Not impressed and can't wait to move.

@Calindi: Oh my goodness I'm so sorry that happened! I was cringing through your whole post. I'm definitely sending good thoughts your way and hoping there's no more accidents!!

  • edited December 2011
what the heck?!?! you guys just have tarantulas there in oklahoma?!!?! That's so freakin creepy. I hear they chase you like it's a game... is that true? Like if you run they wanna run with you? gross gross gross... That. I cannot handle.

@sami: I know someone else who also hate spiders! The H! He really can't stand them and he's a bit scared too actually. A couple weeks ago, he found a spider and called me out to go kill it for him!!!! My guy is soo manly huh? lol That's the only thing he hates. Haha

@beach: I've also been such a fattie, so I am now starting to work out again and going on runs. Being gone for 3 months and getting to eat amazing food did not help me! lol

My weekend has been great! I'm here in California right now with family. My sister and her family came over on Friday from Jersey and it's the very first time I got to see my baby niece! She's the cutest baby ever! The entire weekend has just been family oriented, we had a couple get togethers. And on Saturday, my sister and I drove to our best friend's graduation from Business school. California's weather is pretty awesome right now, unlike in Vegas so I'll be staying here for 2 weeks to hang out with friends and family!

I don't have any other concrete summer plans yet. H sent me an email earlier asking for care packages, so I've got to put one together for him soon!

Wow, Calindi, sounds like you had quite the weekend! I also spent the majority of Saturday hungover...

We went to a going away party and we left after a couple of hours to go to the movies but FI had accidentally taken someone else's phone so we ended back up at the party. And then of course everyone wanted to go out to the bars so we went along and drank more. It was fun but we paid for it the next day! It was a fairly lazy weekend overall. Finally made FI sit down with me and review the contract with our reception venue and so at least we got something done!

We're currently planning our 4th of July party (FI's family usually travels to stay with us for the weekend and we have friends over) but need to finish renovating one of our bathrooms first. NOT looking forward to all of that work but it will be such a relief when it's over with. We also need to travel to see my family and do wedding planning in August but no real vacations this year since we need to save for the wedding. :)

I hate spiders too but not near as much as my older brother. He shrieks like a little girl when he sees them. I believe he makes my SIL kill them... FI also isn't a fan of spiders but he's our designated spider killer, otherwise I spray the spiders to death with carpet cleaner and then vacuum them up. I really don't like crunching them with a shoe, it's much messier that way!!

@ Calindi! OUCH! I was cringing!!

OH gosh I HATE spiders! And I'm from OKlahoma so I can say that there are trantulas there!! Actually last summer my dad left the door open to the canning shack behind their house and a little trantula family moved in!! He went in there and saw one crawling on something and hit it with a piece of wood or something and hundreds of babies came off of it! Ah! it freaked me out! He bombed it and about 6 or 7 trantulas crawled out and died! It was disgusting!

But my weekend was BUSY! I work at a spa and we were really busy saturday plus we got a spray tanning system in friday so we were setting it up and I was teaching everyone how to us it b/c I used the same system when I worked at a tanning salon in Oklahoma.  So that was fun.  OH and Friday night I went Hiking at like 8 pm with my best friend up here.  That's one thing I'm loving about Alaska!! B/c we got back at 11 and it was still light out!! It was so awesome! And at the top of the mountain we saw a fox ! it was pretty neat.!  It started raining as we were running down, it was pretty awesome b/c in Oklahoma I'm used to humid rain during the summer but up here it's just refreshing! But my friend Tiffany and I hiked up the hard side then ran down the easy side and we were on the complete opposite side of the mountain so we had to run like 3 miles around to the other side where the car was! BUt it was a lot of fun, then we went to Fred Meyers and got a pizza to celebrate our hike! OH and some carrot chips and guacamole (btw if you've never had carrot chips , I think they're amazing and more healthy then normal chips!) Anyways it was a good busy weekend.  I like staying busy, makes time go by fast!

But I'm super excited because I got my plane ticket to go to Alabama to my FI's graduation! I can't wait to see him! 8 more weeks! Then I'll help him pack and we will be roadtripping from Alabama to Alaska! I can't wait!!!

I hope everyone has an awesome week!

Umm... I  am not joining in any spider discussion. at all. I spent my weekend by the pool drinking. Beachy-I'm with you on the diet. I feel like the weekends just kill me. I literally just spend them eating crap and drinking. It's so bad, yet sooo much fun.
