Anyone around?

I'm bored and stuck inside, thanks to Irene.

Let's sit around a virtual fire and tell ghost stories.

    I'll go first....

Once, there was this June Bug the size of a volkswagen beetle!

I'm sorta around, just doing some homework.  Yep, that's right. I had dinner with my parents tonight and am doing homework. I'm the world's coolest almost 28 year old out there.

I wish I had homework right now to keep me occupied.

    What's your homework assignment?

I'm around! I guess today wasn't a very exciting day to start posting.

I'm home alone tonight and there's no good movies on tv. I'm watching sex and the city re-runs and online shopping for office furniture. Considering making some Gin and Lemonade to make the night a little bit more exciting.

Well, there's all the homework I've already gotten done this weekend:

    translate 1.7.2 of Valerius Maximus
spend 4 hours at a research library looking through early printed books of Valerius Maximus (from 1502!!!)
finish reading a book on Roman clothing
write a precis paper on said book
come up with ideas for a presentation of Valerius Maximus
(all of which I enjoyed doing)
read chapter 1 of my foreign language methods textbook (bleh)
do exercise in said book (double bleh)

I'm currently on this phase of my homework for the weekend:

Finish reading three articles on developing ESL literacy
write a reflection and post said reflection
then comment on another student's reflection
then write a 4-6 page autobiography of my own relationship with literacy

    (quadruple bleh)

Then I get to start reading another Roman history book.

...I may have bitten off more than I can chew this semester....

And as briefly noted... when I think scary, I think June Bugs. 'nuff said.

    Sorry you're trapped inside.

That sounds kind of nice, Quilting.

I was giving in to some BSC and browsing Bed, Bath and Beyond for things I want to register for - BF and I have been talking about buying a house in the not-so-far away future, and I found the most awesome china pattern.

June Bugs sound so cute. Ever seen the movie Junebug? Soooo cute.

    Your homework sounds scary.

Flooding and fallen trees are scary to me right now. I've heard one kid died from a tree falling on his house and saw a couple's car under a tree and a power line.

Yes... yes it does.  Did I mention it's only the first week of class?  I may be close to panicking.  Oh, and depressed.  I am very, very depressed when I look at the next several months of my life.

When I go BSC, I like to design engagement rings on Blue Nile.  I like to design the "NO WAY IN HECK" e-rings and then the "maybe?" e-rings.  Then I usually stomp on myself and try to get it back together. I haven't ever done a registry though.  I wonder if I could register for Roman history texts...

They are not cute!  They are evil demonic bugs!

But I might have a thoroughly irrational phobia of them.  But as far as bugs go, should I be objective, they are not at all cute.  Lady bugs are cute.  June Bugs are big ugly brown flying buzzing beetles of doom!

It would be, and I didn't mean to imply you'd created one. I like to dream about new things for the house.  And I love dishes.  I made the boyfriend help me pick out my pfaltzgraff pattern of dishes. He wanted plain white, I wanted decoration.  So I wanted him to help me pick out something he wouldn't hate.

Naturewood is the happy compromise.  They're pretty.

My killer weakness right now is furniture. I'd love a new bedroom set.

No, I knew what you meant. I showed BF what pattern I liked, and he didn't seem to care. Sometimes it's good that he has no opinion on things like that, and other times it's very frustrating.

We have 3 sets of plain white dishes. I wish we could justify new ones since they're so plain but I'm not 'allowed' to get any more :( I'm trying to find new bedroom furniture so we can move ours to the guest room but its so hard to find something we both like that would fit in our room

Haha, I know what you mean.  Unfortunately, my BF, when he has opinions, has the exact opposite opinions as me.  So we do a lot of compromising and trying to find something that works well for both of us. We're pretty decent at it. :)

Like the naturewood dishes, for instance.  I like mad decoration, he likes plain white.  We settled on this:

    <a href="#" title="Click to view a larger photo" onclick="return gSiteLife.LoadForumPage('ForumImage', 'plckPhotoId', '81eb77ae-3346-438a-a974-080cf1cf34b0', 'plckRedirectUrl', gSiteLife.EscapeValue(window.location.href));"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/1/9/81eb77ae-3346-438a-a974-080cf1cf34b0.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

We both like the neutral colors; I love gardening, and though the glasses are a bit busy, the larger plates are entirley off white with only the border as detail. I'm happy with them.  And I think he doesn't hate or dislike them (unlike some of the others I liked), so I call that a win.

I'm stuck inside due to Irene as well.  And I have nothing to do.  :(  I've resorted to playing board games with my parents.

I love those too peek!  That splash of red is really appealling.

...in other news, I have finished reading my last article for my ESL class.  (Thank you for helping me keep my sanity as I slogged through it). I am now going to take a hot shower, watch a movie, and go to bed.

...tomorrow, the reflections and the paper and more Roman History!

Oh, and if I completely fall apart at some point this semester due to school stuff... sorry in advance.  :)
