No, you didn't spice up my afternoon. You may think you have riled me up, however you are far from the truth. If I got irritated with every BSC chick that flows through our board..psh, no way... I don't have time for that BS.

Being excited is fine, if it is valid. You are excited for something that hasn't happened. You are planning for something you haven't gotten. You specifically stated you are waiting for a proposal before you announce, and let everyone know your wedding plans. Have the fun is allowing the ones you care about in on the planning, and helping you. I don't give a rats flying f*ck if you do or do not want validation. What you need is a swift kick in the as$ for being so assanine. You talk in circles.. I swear you have to be a used car salesman or something... you make no logical sense and just oust yourself for being a ridiculous individual.

If that's how you like to spend your afternoons, by all means.

I can't believe that I am about to do this...

In all fairness to the OP, in her earlier post she never refers to her so as either BF or FI, but we all made the (logical, I feel) conclusion that because she was waiting for the ring that she did not consider herself engaged and that there was no mutual agreement between her and her SO.
If there is such an agreement, then she is just engaged w/o a ring and that's ok. The ring is just a 'technacality' at this point, and while I'm sure that getting new bling will be exciting, she's not really 'waiting' to get engaged, she's waiting for a rock.  Because, as the OP agreed, she and SO have an agreement to wed on a set date. He just has to prove it with a ring.

As Beth and I said, if it's a secret, I wouldn't call it an engagement.

Seriously? Who has a secret engagement? Doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Lennon, I adore you and I have to respectfully disagree, using the quote from previous thread below

"I do NOT consider myself "officially engaged" until I have the ring.  Although you could probably say we are unofficially engaged considering he has bought the ring and is helping to plan. He's actually VERY involved in the wedding plans and contributing financially.  I am in no way planning behind his back. LOL"

This being said - she specified that she doesn't consider herself engaged.

IMHO, she just wants attention because with her friends/family as well as BF's not knowing about the engagement, she isn't getting any wedding attention there.

Why is this so confusing to people? I don't get it.

You determine when you are engaged. No ring or proposal needed. Secret engagements are invalid.
