Not Engaged Yet

Hehe

About Me I'm (Full name) and my future husbands name is (Full Name), we have NO idea when we actually started dating officially, but we set the date as September 23,2007. I am 25 and he is 18. I have never met anyone as mature as him, even my ex. We are both enrolled in college for the Fall Semester and he has encouraged me to go back. I have not been in school since I graduated high school in 2001 and will be starting NEW this September. I am majoring in Psychology and he is going to Technical school for welding. He has not officially asked me to marry him even though we talk about it all the time. He wants to buy me a huge ring which I think is funny because I would take a fake one as long as it came from him. He wants us to have the best and wants to ask me at the right time with the right ring. I'm pretty superficial but I honestly wouldn't care what kind of ring he bought me at this point. My Wedding ORANGE!!!! My favorite color is PINK! But I want a fall wedding, this is my favorite time of year and I want my Bridesmaids to have different color dresses within the fall color pallet.. I want the focus to be orange but not overwhelming. I want a goddess style dress and for him to also wear a WHITE tux. I don't want to be a bridezilla but I do NOT want anyone else to wear white at the wedding besides me and David :):) I want calla lilies even though they are expensive--I want the bridesmaids to carry one each and me to carry a small bouquet with a few different things around it (still undecided)  and I want the wedding to be at David's parent's house in the backyard, it is a HUGEEEEEEEE open area that has the backdrop of woods, it looks like endless trees even though they don't go on for very long. When you look at it, it is the perfect place to have an outdoor Fall wedding.

Acro: I believe that wonderful tidbit is from Brides.com.  If not, you can usually find stuff like that from that site.

Ah yes, I don't venture over there very often.  I figured one wedding site is enough to entertain me without making me BSC waiting for a proposal.  ;)

So if he's 18 now when they set the date they must have been dating before that....someone likes them young!

Yep. It's from Brides.com. I venture over there to find stuff like this when this place gets boring.I was wondering about the age thing too. Does that mean they started dating when he was 16 and she was 23?

About Me I have been with Nathan for 2 years as of 7/7/09. He is 22, I am 31 and have wanted to be a wife since I was like 20 but the right guy never came along to even date let alone marry, Nathan is my first boyfriend in more than 12 years. He is also most definitely the RIGHT GUY for me in every way.He is saving up the money for a ring because he doesn't want to have to finance or borrow money and insists on spending at least 3k on the ring. He told me a few months ago that he knows how he wants to propose, and so I wait till the day comes when I get the "something Shiny" and can start making real plans with a real budget and announce to the world that my dream is coming true! My Wedding I have a lovely little journal full of magazine clippings and ideas I have gathered over the last 10 years. Nothing is definite because I don't want it to go out of style before it happens. I only know I want to get married in my hometown and it will be fantastic!

Hi I just joined and figured this area fit me and my boyfriend description well!We are in the process of becoming engaged. We have picked out a ring and now it's just up to him as to when we are "official"!We are young, but we are doing this for ourselves and no one else. It's good to see there is support out there for young couples!I am 18, soon to be 19 and boyfriend is 20. We have been together for 2 and a half years and will most likely be planning a 2011 wedding because of us are in school at the moment. DId anyone else choose a solitaire for their engagement ring? I have always loved the idea of a solitaire. We decided on a round 1/2 carat. :)

Have fun tomorrow!! I am still the DD all the time..... :( My 21st bday was increadably uneventful! I worked and then DH and I went to Chili's for dinner, and I almost forgot I could order a drink, which my then end of dinner I almost didn't even finish. Then DH wanted to go to the liquor store so I was gonna just send him in since I am not a big drinker to begin with and I was tired but he made me go in because I legally could get my own stuff.....

You're welcome. I'm at home all day today since I'm feeling sick, so I figured I'd distract everyone. :)I saw the engagement chicken thing too, I didn't know how to incorporate it over here though, haha. So what is it? A chicken that supposed to make your boyfriend propose?
  • edited December 2011
That's exactly what it's supposed to be.  Apparently, you make this chicken for him, he'll realize what a wonderful wife you'll be, and he'll propose to you shortly thereafter. I've only ever heard it mentioned on the knot as a joke.  Brides.com... not so much.

    31 and 22? That's icky. I wonder if she's super, super immature?
  • edited December 2011
Wow.  There's actually this chick over there who is complaining about how none of the THREE proposals she got from her FI were romantic or special enough for her.  She only had multiple proposals because she was sobbing and guilted him into it.  Awesome. I weep for humanity, truly I do.

Re: Anyone else unofficially engaged? Jul 19, 2009 6:36 AM in response to: BirdLover   I have a slightly different thing going on.My fiance proposed to me September 20th 2004. He gave me a ring, not a diamond, at my own request. We plan our wedding for May 2005. Then in December 2004 he becomes violently sick and nearly dies. It took him three years to recover, and now he's back in school, with one more year to go. We're giving it a year after that until we can finally get married.Ever since then we have been waiting, and my family refuses to call us engaged because we don't have a current date. They made us go into a long distance relationship. We spent four and a half years in a long distance relationship. Then when I had no choice but to go home to Mom because of the economic downturn, we were told we could not tell people that we meet that we're engaged. We could say we were "promised" but not engaged. After all my ring wasn't a "proper engagement ring." He and I know the truth though, and most of our friends understand what happened to throw a curveball into this thing. Hoping and praying our day will come soonI feel really bad for this girl because of the illness problems.  No one should have to deal with thatBut seriously, what adult person lets their parents dictate whether or not they can tell people they are engaged?  It just blows my mind.  Seriously?
