How do feel about...

SNAKES?

I found this little guy in the bathroom last Friday as I was naked and about to get in the shower.  Of course FI was out running our mini fridge to his cousin who is due to have her baby anyday and their fridge was not working.

I saw the tail sticking out from behind the door and thought whoa is that a snake?  I moved the door and saw that he was a lot bigger than I thought... about 26-28" and calmly grabbed the camera and snapped a couple pics then promptly picked him up as close to the head as possible he starting whipping around and bit me on the finger and I then screamed "like a girl" and chucked him at the wall!  I was determined to get him out though so I picked him up again... he was pissed and kept biting me.  I dropped him after he got me enough to draw blood and grabbed a towel then went back to get him he was trying to get away and hissing and I was cursing him like there was no tomorrow and finally got him and then ran out the back door (my bath towel only around my waist at this point, thank god for privacy fences) and threw him out into the yard!

FI called after I sent him a pic to his phone and was like "OH my gosh is that in the house?"  I was like well that is the tile floor but he isn't in here anymore.  He says "what did you do with it?"  I told him and he said "I've never had a snake inside, gross... I'm really sorry I wasn't there and you had to deal with it babe".

When he came back he said that he told his mom and she said that I was "brave" and that most girls (esp. his two sisters) would have been standing on the toilet screaming until their H's came home!

So what would YOU have done if you were in my situation?

I probably would have run screaming. I don't do well with snakes, stinging insects and spiders - they scare the bejezzus out of me and make me lose all of my cognitive abilities

As a child, I threw a temper tantrum (one of 2 BTW) because I found a snake on a construction site and my dad would not allow me to take it home. My mother picked it up and let me hold it, but Dad was not having it.

I would have gotten a broom or something to hold it still them taken it outside. Dressed.

I hate looking at this picture.

As we speak I'm picturing swarms of snakes coming and slithering around me until I die.

Haha, I kill spiders often as well.  Killed a decent sized one that had my son freakin' out last night.

    Maybe I'm just a freak?

I would have been one standing on the toilet screaming. I couldn't imagine finding a snake in the house. I'm such a pansy. I damn near jump on an item of furniture if I see a spider on the floor. You are brave. Espeically after the snake kept biting you. I would have thought I was going to die from a snake bite and may or may not have been calling 911 or rushing myself to the ER. I'm typically not dramatic, unless it comes to insects/animals, etc biting, stinging or what have you.

I would've screamed until BF got rid of it.  I've screamed over mice and roaches in my dorm, I definitely would've freaked out over a snake.

I would have been screaming like a girl for sure. I might have been able to get it out of the house but I doubt I would have touched it. :)

Haha, you guys are cracking me up!

Don't get me wrong I was a little scared of it and my heart was beating like mad but I tend not to freak out at all.  I am good in emergency situations I guess?  I dunno, my brain just reacts that way.

Another situation where I just did whatever was...  I was with my mother when she had a seizure and I did all the things you are trained to do in basic life saving automatically then called 911 and got her changed out of her wet clothes (people often pee themselve during seizures) so that she wouldn't be embarassed when they showed up.  I also grabbed a ziplock and threw all of her med in to take with me because there were about 20 and it would have taken too long to write them all down.

I'm not sure if I'm as brave as you Dwest. I think I would have made one attempt to tak him outside. The bite would have either totally changed my mind or I would have become determined to get him out.

    Way to go though!

Well the yard is very private woods to the one side and across the back and a civil war cemetery to the other side... I wasn't worried about anyone seeing me, but I grabbed the towel mainly because if the blinds were open and someone was walking down the street I didn't want them to see me wrestling naked with the snake!

I would've picked him up, I have a pet snake so they don't phase as much as the next gal, however wild snakes are a tad more scary

Although you shouldn't have gotten to close to his head thats there most sensitive spot and they scare [and bite] when you get close to their heads. Under his center  and then slide your hand under then neck is the best way to not get bitten. And wear gloves in future wild snake run -ins]

You're a brave woman, Dwest. I probably would have run away, and then found some way to shoo it out of the house (like a broom or something).

On a side note, my dog is a snake killer. Twice she has found snakes in the backyard and bit them clean in two.

You are definitely a brave woman!  I would have also picked it up - I'm not bothered by bugs and reptiles at all - but I would have worn an oven mitt or at least wrapped my hand in a towel.  I would have been afraid that it might be poisonous... I know very little about snakes, but I do know some can be deadly (though no idea on identifying those, or even where in the world they are).

I loooove snakes. Seriously love them. It would have been like Christmas to me if I were there :P I can't guarantee I'd pick him up though, because I don't know which are poisonous and which aren't.

Here is a link to my charge, Jacobo. He is a Ball Python. (I'm only linking to him to spare those that are afraid of snakes)
