My ring is WICKED and I love it.  I don't care if it isn't huge - it represents an important time in our lives and I intend to keep it because of what it means to me.  We have already discussed getting a second band on our 1 year anniverary and we're both down on it.  Also, FBD knows I lurves bling and he says later in life he'll buy me all sorts of lovely things...and I can always buy myself some blinged out rings but they would never be able to replace what I have on my hand right now.

I don't think I'd mind upgrading or changing rings. My grandma (badass that she is) wears some pretty cool large opals instead of her original ring. She and my grandfather have been married 64 years and are adorable.

I love my ring, so I would never replace it.

Also, I HATE pushy salespeople. Stick with the ring YOU love. Just because he gets commission doesn't mean he has to be a JERK!

I can't see the actual poll for whatever reason, but I would possibly get a new ring set.

My whole set is heirloom jewelry, but if I had a daughter and she asked for it for her wedding set, I would probably let her have it and use something different for my own jewelry.

I dunno.  I wouldn't really consider it an upgrade in the sense that that storeclerk was using it.  It's more a continuing to pass the heirloom on, and getting a new ring in its place.

Eh, I am going to be honest and say that I have already upgraded lol. I had a solitaire engagement ring and had the diamond placed in a different setting. It was something he and I discussed way before he bought the ring and while I am sentimental about my wedding rings being a symbol of being married....well, your marriage changes over the years, so why can't your rings?

I guess I am not overly attached to my rings in the sense that I want NOTHING to change. It's the same diamond, just in a nicer and more elaborate setting. I love it and have no regrets at all, and I was able to get the wedding band I wanted because it matched my new setting better.

After the hassle we went through to get it? Heck no!

Also I get too emotionally attached to things that have emotional significance to ever think of doing that. Once that ring goes on my finger, it's staying there.

I have no desire to upgrade even though we can if we want. My husband asked me one day if I would ever want to and I quickly replied "No" without hesitation , but that's just me. We bought mine at Shane Co. and it comes with a lifetime gurantee already and the option of upgrading - which we won't be doing anyway. I've had several of my customers in retail tell me I should "upgrade". Screw that. I am perfectly happy with my 1/3ct. center stone..anything bigger looks silly on me and I prefer the vintage simple look over the more blingy styles anyhow. To each their own and I don't think there is anything wrong with doing it or wanting to - its a personal choice. I just choose not to.

Yeah, I think that's different than an upgrade in the sense the salesperson was talking about.  Our whole plan is to pass on my ring someday, so if I were with my daughter who asked for my ring for her wedding, I'd hand it over without a second thought.  Though I think the rough plan is for my daughter (if I have one) to get my Mom's wedding set, and I'll pass mine on to my granddaughter.  But these things can always change!

But a bigger stone?  No thank you, the one I'll have is bigger than I ever wanted already!  And the setting is classic and timeless, it's not going to go 'out of style'.
