Not Engaged Yet

Pregnant?

Just so you all know, this is an AE. And some of this might be TMI, sorry.

So, last weekend my boyfriend and I ended up having sex for the first time (for either of us). Totally awkward, nothing too much. Honestly, it barely counts but it does.

Here's my worry: it wasn't safe. Yeah, we're idiots. I know that, and that's my problem. Obviously no one knows if I could be pregnant or not, but how worried about this should I be? It really wasn't prolonged, and just kind of BARELY in and right back out. I feel so awkward saying this. So, should I be laying off the drinks or what?

All it takes is once. If your period is late, piss on a stick. A few drinks won't hurt.
    I'm not good at feelings.

Ditto this. But if you are afraid you are pregnant you don't have to drink. But don't worry too much, stress can cause you to miss your period too :)

I know all it takes is once, hence my worry. I won't get my period for probably a couple weeks, so my question is for the meantime, how seriously should I be taking this possibility?

    Don't do coke.

Seriously though, try not to stress about it. There's nothing you can do about it now. If it was me, I wouldn't drink to excess and I'd start taking a pregnancy as soon as my period is due. If you aren't pregnant, USE A CONDOM from now on.

I mean, you should take it seriously... but stressing will cause your period to be late. If this is going to be something you guys will do on a regular basis you should look into birth control options to prevent any further scares. Calm down for now and just wait it out. Don't stress, it will make it worse! If you start getting symptoms within 2-3 weeks then go see a doctor or take a test. Best of luck.

Um yea RX...that was a little harsh.  The more you stress, the more likely you are to not have a period.  So don't freak if you don't cuz it's a possibility since you are stressing so much already.  Just wait and see, then take a test in 2-3 weeks.  Be careful next time and use protection although nothing is 100 percent.

We've talked about the possibility of this happening in the future, so that's covered.
I'm trying to just focus on everything else going on instead of stressing, since I do have a few weeks. But I just wanted to make sure there isn't anything else I should be doing just in case. Thanks for the advice.

Rxjen, I already said it's an AE. If you really want my age, then do some detective work instead of commenting like that.

I did this (in and out, no ejaculation, which is what your story sounds like) with my then BF when I was 16 and didn't get pregnant, FWIW. . . of course everybody is different.

an Alternate Ego. Basically she has been around for awhile. We know her but with this particular question she would rather we not know her identity. and no this isn't how trolling starts. Trolls don't identify themselves as an AE

If there was no ejaculation, it's extremely unlikely that you're pregnant.  I wish you had posted this sooner after it happened, though, so I could recommend the Plan B pill.

The only thing that worries me is that you said your period isn't due for "a couple of weeks", which means that you're in your peak fertility stage pretty much now.

Still, though, if there was no ejaculation, you shouldn't be worried yet.  Wait to see if your period comes.  Just do what you normally do until you miss your period.

Also, the first several weeks of pregnancy are completely unaffected by alcohol and most other teratogens.  You're safe having a few drinks.

Edit:  I really want to know who you are, now.  You post on NEY regularly?

Usually around the 25th, give or take; so the end of the month. And on average, maybe another 26 days in between? October 24th was the first day.

EDIT: I counted wrong. Cycle is around 29 days.

Elle, I wouldn't have taken the Plan B pill anyways. Personal beliefs. Also, YGPM.

Yeah, I'm pretty much just around peak. That's my main worry too.

And as a sidenote: if I was MUD, I'd come up with something better than "I had really lame, unprotected sex with my boyfriend."

I agree with chsiano. If there was no ejaculation, your chances of pregnancy are slim (but not impossible). Stressing makes you late, and the later you are, the more stressed you will be. It's a nasty cycle. Just relax and wait and see what happens.

Oh, then you're totally worried for no reason.  If you have a typical cycle, you won't even ovulate for a couple more days.  You're ok.

Haha.  Both, sorta.  I was pre-med in college and even though I decided not to go to med school, the stuff I learned really sticks with me.

Also, I've always been interested in pretty much any women's (or primarily women's) issue.  From anorexia to abortion, I could write books.

This may be an optimum time for you to conceive however if there was no ejaculation luck may be on your side.Pregnancy can still happen from seminal fluid passed into the vagina during the sexual act.As for Plan B you needed to use it up to 72 hours after sex. Plan B does not cause an abortion in just inhibits hormones to prevent ovulation ( if it has not ocurred yet) or delayed fertilization.....

Just relax try not to stress so if you are not pregnant your period comes on time

Again, I am sorry for my beotchiness and best of luck to you....

Plan B also works by preventing a fertilized egg from adhering to the uterine wall.  Most women who won't use it have a problem with that part.

Yeah, it was the night of the 30th. Does that make a difference? I've only just started paying attention to exactly how ovulation and pregnancy and all that fun stuff works so I don't know too much.

Personally, I do feel like the chances are slim... and to clarify, I'm not so sad about missing out on drinking or anything if I am. It's the first thing that crossed my mind that I wouldn't want to do if I was. But there have been a lot of troll and MUD posts.
