Anniversaries

Today is mine and BF's 3 year anniversary. We don't have any solid plans - up until a few days ago, we thought he was going to be away for work until Thursday - but I have a couple things in mind depending on the weather. We'll probably go out for dinner, as we always do, and I was hoping to go for a nice walk around a cute little river in a town near here, (we used to do that sometimes when we first started dating) but it's supposed to rain, so we shall see. Then we're going away for the weekend to my family cottage which will be nice.

How do you celebrate your anniversaries? Any suggestions for us since mother nature plans to ruin my plans?

I just celebrated mine with the BF this past Sunday, fortunately for us we're in So California, so the weather was sunny and warm for a 20 mile bike ride along the coast.  Do you guys have indoor activity centers?  Cooking classes together, wine tasting?  Go karts?  Some friendly competition might make your pulses race.  Congrats on three years, hope you guys have tons of fun!

We usually celebrate with a mini-trip (somewhere within a few hours of home) or dinner or something.  This year we celebrated by getting engaged.  We're super cool like that;)

It's okay, any proposal is invalid if it doesn't include an engagement pony. Everyone knows that.

Breezer just has her priorities straight.

(sidenote: I'm waiting for the day a newb takes this seriously and calls us all crazy for expecting a pony)

But Beth, what will you name your anniversary pony?

Oh, Edit because I forgot to answer the question: we don't celebrate our anniversary. It's on December 28th. BF's bday is December 21st, Mine's December 25th which is also Christmas.... soooo we just make out on the couch.

Kyle and I started dating on May 6th, 2008.

On our first anniversary I had an exam, so we just went out for a fancy dinner.  All we did was go out to dinner this past year as well, since it was his first week at his new job and he was exhausted from needing to wake up at 5:30 am.  Our anniversary will be on a Friday next year, so hopefully we can do something bigger.

Beth - I really hope your anniversary surprise is a pony. I wish I could have a pony! Hmph. We live in an apartment and we are not allowed to tie animals up outside. And I just don't think a pony would fit inside properly.

Paige and EKath - Congrats on the engagements! I am 110% sure that is not how we will be celebrating out anniversary haha.

We did a mini-trip last year in August (seems to be a popular option), but with BF's boss making last minute decisions about him having to work 4 hours away for days at a time, we haven't been able to plan anything for the past month and a half. It's been great (but should wind up next week)!

Mine and BF's anniversary is April 22. We started dating in 2009. We didn't really celebrate our first year anniversary, I didn't even see him that day and I was pretty angry with him but I think I saw him that weekend.

You know what? I don't even remember. But our two year anniversary will definitely be better...just because I'll make a point to remember it! lol.

HA! I'm going to ask BF what we did for our first anniversary...I'm going to feel like crap if he actually remembers (which I bet 1000 bucks he won't). Then, I'll feel even worse if we actually did something nice (which if we did I'm pretty sure I would remember)

    Anyway....that is all.

Our anniversary is 11/21...we count it from the day we met.  Last year we just did a nice dinner at the Melting Pot.  This year, FI will be in Vegas for his friend's bachelor party, which is why he jumped the gun and proposed in Hawaii instead.  He said it was either when we were in Hawaii or he was going to wait till our anniversary.  Next year, we will probably be getting married around that time, so we will be able to keep our anniversary. LOL

For our one year anniversary we reenacted our first date. Seems kind of nerdy now, but it was super cute back then. We stayed in had chinese and watched Phantom of the Opera (This was technically our second date, but this is the one he asked me to be his girlfriend on. Aww, high school lol).

I don't remember what we did two-four. Probably just dinner and a movie.

For our five year anniversary I surprise BF with a mini-getaway to Niagara Falls. Since tourism isn't exactly hopping during January, I got a really good deal on a Fallsview room and breakfast at the Hilton. It was so nice to get away from home for one night and we had never been to Niagara Falls in the winter. It was quite the experience.

For our six years we're tossing around the idea of going to either a ski resort (we snowboard) or going to a hotel with a nice spa. It kind of depends on the job situation since he's changing careers and I'll be trying to get a job.

Yeah, I really want to go to Canada. I've never been and BF hasn't been there in about 10 years. And thank you for your comment - it hasn't always been easy, but I really feel like we have something special and all good things require work. I feel like a lot of young people hit the road way too easily.
