Tuesday Interrogation Room - Me

Since I volunteered yesterday, thought I'd go ahead and start it...I'll be on and off the computer all day, so forgive me if I don't get back to you right away.

Ask away.

Tell me more about your religion, if you're comfortable doing so. Were you raised in the same faith you follow now? If so, was there ever a point when you considered changing your religious practices? Are your parents as strong in their convictions as you are?

Anything you're worried about?
I take it we're talking wedding related...I'm worried that my blood pressure and blood sugar will drop and I'll pass out standing at the altar...we're doing all kinds of things to help prevent it (my dad is getting me an egg mcmuffin to eat an hour before the wedding and I'm drinking Gatorade G2 all morning)

Besides marrying the love of your life, what are you most looking forward to?
I cannot wait to meet Joe's family and friends from FL - never met any of them due to the distance and it's crazy expensive to travel.

Have you given the bridesmaids their jewelry yet?
Nope - it's wrapped up and in their gift bags to give to them on Friday night. They know they're getting a necklace 'cause I told them several months ago "don't plan on wearing a necklace and do not ask many why".

What was your favorite item that you bought for the wedding?
my hair clip - it's got daisies (well, daisy like flowers) and butterflies on it - I couldn't believe I found one in my "theme" and it's so pretty.

What's your favorite color?
blue - just about any shade of blue

Best thing you ever ate?
I really like "simple" foods...I've eaten so many yummy simple foods, don't think I could narrow it down to just one.

Realistic job you'd love to land?
I would love to teach crafts to kids...not work in a daycare (been there, done that), but more like in the rec centers and such where the parents sign their kids up - I do some of it with my Sunday School class, but we have such a short time together, it's hard to really get into it with them.

OK - maybe quoting will be easier :)

No problem talking about it. Basically, I'm Protestant. I was born into my church (when my dad moved out here to become a cop before my parents were married, he actually found our church his 1st week here) - my parents met in my church located in their small hometown in Oklahoma and my mom's mom and her family have been members of our church (in different states) for a really long time, so yes, my parents are as religious as I am.

I never considered changing. FI and I have had some discussions about where we want to go to church. Our Sunday morning services at my church are pretty traditional and the church that FI goes to is one of those "mega churches" that has 3000 people at each service (I have 25-100 at each service, depending on the week) and it's like a rock concert. We do have a Saturday night service that is smaller but has a lot of the more modern music in it, but with FI's schedule, we haven't been able to go. We've decided to just stay at our own churches for now and revisit the discussion every 6 months or so. I figure as long as we're both going and we're happy, then I have no problems going to different churches - they both have similar beliefs, so there's no conflict of interest.

Posted by AudgiePodge
I was born in Vegas and the only time I did not live here was the 3 1/2 years I was away for college (so I was home for winter break and summers).

I looked back at the book my mom kept of my school years - had notes and pockets for memories from kindergarten through high school. When I was in grade school, it lists that I wanted to be a cop and an artist (my dad is/was both - I was definitely a daddy's girl); then I wanted to be a psychologist (but have no desire to pursue that dream any longer). And what's funny is every single year, no matter what else was listed as "what do I want to be" - I also always said "a mommy".

Favorite thing to drink...coffee, water, iced tea and many flavors of Crystal Light (or the house brands of such).

Breakfast for dinner? Always. In fact since FI is working swing today instead of grave (he starts his vacation days tomorrow), I'm fixing pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage for lunch before he leaves for work.

Angie, do you know what you'd want to name your kids? How many do you want? Any preference on gender (or a wish, if not a preference)? When would you want to start trying to have a family?

Oceana, I know it's not question time for you, but what's your siggy pic of? It's beautiful, but I always thought they took those pics the morning of the wedding, and yours is still a few weeks (just weeks!!!) away, so I was curious!

Aw - FI and my pastor decided we needed a code word in case I started feeling light headed or anything and since I know that just drinking some water will usually help (esp if it's just the start of getting light headed, at least for me), I'm supposed to just say "water" and FI will get the water bottle from my parents.

We're actually more worried now about one of the GMs passing out - 2 weeks ago he spent 3 days in the hospital for bleeding ulcers...he has been given strict orders to sit down during the ceremony if he needs to (in fact there is a pew that will be just a foot away from him).

From my registry, really need the black out curtains - I am so tired of looking at the old blanket that is thumb-tacked to the wall. Not a necessity, but I really want the pineapple corer/slicer thing from BB&B.

Three lessons for our children: Don't be afraid to go out on a limb, that's where the fruit is (I wish I had followed this when I was growing up, I've always been so painfully shy and I don't want that for my kids); Be yourself; Always trust in God.

Typical weekend: watching NASCAR on TV, trying to get some cleaning done around the house, sometimes shopping with mom or a good friend, church on Sunday.

Last text was from our cell phone carrier trying to get us to get some extra services.

What job? Right now, since I'm not working, it would be any job. I'm mostly applying for receptionist positions (which I realized was always the job I was happiest in) and clerical or admin assistants. See my other answer about teaching crafts.

Oh yeah, we have kid's names picked out...boys we like Kyle Martin and Matthew Luke and girls we never quite agree (good thing we're not having kids tomorrow), but 2 names that we've both said "oh, I could go with that" are Veronica Faith and Hope Carolyn.

I would love 2 kids, 1 of each ideally. It's been a long running "joke" in my family that I'll be the next one to have triplets (my great-grandmother had a set of triplets and a set of twins); there are lots of twins in my family and FI's sister has a set of twins, too. I really don't care what we have, as long as they're healthy (but of course as FI and I have talked, if anyone can handle a child with any kind of disability, it would certainly be us)...I have always wished for a little boy, though.

We don't really have a set time for to start TTC. I've always dreamt of having a honeymoon baby, but of course when I was dreaming that, I always thought I'd be better off financially when that time came. So we aren't planning to try for kids for a while (hopefully things will get better for us in the next 6 months to a year), but we know that if an accidental blessing happens, that it won't be the end of the world and we have an amazing support system that has already told us that they'll make sure we're taken care of should that happen (we're still not going to plan for that to happen, though).

I like your names. :) One of my names is Faith or Vera in Russian so I am partial to those names :)

Question: What do you think is going to be your favorite part of the wedding day?

When life is hard/stressing you out what is one of the things you do to help you relax or be less stressed?

What do you mean by traditional protestant? Well clearly hymns but anything else?

I think my favorite part of the day is going to be when our pastor says "I know pronounce you husband and wife"...I just can't wait to be his wife.

I like to work on making cards when I'm stressed - totally forget what's going on. I like to play games on the computer or watch a movie cuddled up with my dog to destress, too.

What do I mean? We take communion at every service, which I love (you can take communion at FI's church, but because they're so big, you have to go into a special room to do so and it just seems so cold and unmeaningful to me); our church is very open and welcoming of anyone - I've been to and had friends tell me about churches that don't let certain people join or won't let certain things happen (like dancing, etc).

What's your favourite kind of craft to make/you have made?
I love making cards - I made our invites and all of our thank you cards and even making a couple birthday cards this week. I also like to make scrunchies and baby blocks, both are so simple to make, but are so cute when they're done and I get a lot of compliments on all of the above.

Do you want to travel anywhere in particular?
FI is Irish and we'd both love to go to Ireland someday. I would also like to go to Scotland and other parts of England that I didn't get to see when I was 14. I wouldn't mind going back to Austria or Switzerland - both were beautiful.

Do you have a bucket list? What are your top things on there, if so?
I want to visit every track on the NASCAR circuit (even if there's not a race going on, I just want to say I'm there). It was a plan I had with one of my best friends several years ago - we were going to get an RV (once we were rich, of course) and follow the teams for one year - she passed away 4 1/2 years ago and I promised that I would still take her to all of those tracks some day (I have some of her ashes and she's already gone to 2 tracks with me).

I love your names :) You should do Matthew Mark and then Luke John ;)
One of my preacher friends said the same thing. I actually like Luke Matthew a little better than Matthew Luke, but FI doesn't want people to always say "Luke, I am your father" - he's so silly.

Not really - this is home. If FI got a job somewhere else, it wouldn't be ideal, but we'd go if it was right for us. A few months after we started dating, he got called for some phone interviews with casinos in Oklahoma and Indiana - they ended up hiring someone locally for both positions (didn't want to pay the moving costs for him, oh well), but he talked to me before he even accepted an interview from both places - I told him then that I go where he goes.

If I was given free tickets to a F1 race, I would probably go. I'm not a huge open-wheel fan, but I'll watch it on occasion.

Unusual/difficult thing...I had wanted to learn how to make stained glass for years, so about 6-7 years ago, I took one day class. The instructor said I had natural talent, so I took a 4 week class (one night a week) and learned some more techniques. I bought all my supplies and made glass for a few years. A couple years ago, I just stopped making it. It's very time consuming (I tend to make more than one piece - always small pieces, I didn't like the idea of making large pieces - at a time and it's a several day process with everything set up around the house). I want to get back into it sometime and have told myself (and FI) that maybe later this year I might try working on it again. The first piece I made was a cross and it still hangs in my window.

I have several favorite movies: Dirty Dancing, The American President, Jerry Maguire, If a Man Answers, Brigadoon, Ice Castles - those are all ones I could watch over and over again.

Certainly not an expert on stained glass, but I do love the way it looks. I wouldn't mind doing mosaics as well - for the past few years I've been thinking about getting one of those rock tumblers/polishers that you can get at the craft stores (they're in the kids areas, not meant for professional, more for hobby stuff) to polish up all my tiny scraps of glass that I hate to throw away and get the wooden frames from the craft stores and make unique gifts...I still may have to do that sometime, they'd be such inexpensive gifts that I know people would love.

Brigadoon and Ice Castles are both very corny, sappy love stories. The song being sung during our sand ceremony is actually the theme song from Ice Castles.

3 things...FI, of course; a computer/laptop (with internet access); my Bible

Eggs...scrambled is my favorite, but I do like fried eggs (hard, not sunny side), hard-boiled, deviled eggs and omelets

Most afraid of? I'm always afraid of not saying good-bye and losing a loved one. When that best friend died 4 years ago, it was very unexpected - we'd talked a couple days earlier and laughed together, but it was just a shock to get the phone call from her son a week later...I found myself picking up the phone to call her several times over the next few weeks and just crying.

Biggest pet peeve? Don't know that I really have one - it just depends on my mood - sometimes every little thing on earth can bother me and other times I just let it all roll. I guess if I had to pick one, something that has always bothered me is when I am working and co-workers take advantage, not just of me, but of the company. I always take pride in doing my job and being there when I'm supposed to (even when I don't like my job) and it's always bothered me when people show up late and take extra breaks and I've gotten there a little early to get "personal" stuff done so that I'm ready to go at the scheduled time (bothers FI, too - they're supposed to get there 15 min before the shift starts to do change over, pass down any important info, etc - so he always gets there at least 15 min early, but his co-workers don't do the same, so he rarely gets to leave until after his shift is over, it's so irritating).

Where do you want to retire? Do you have siblings? What side of the bed do you sleep on? Do you like to swim? Do you like roller coasters?
I'm not good at feelings.
Where do you want to retire? I want to stay in Vegas, but hopefully travel during retirement. Do you have siblings? I have one younger brother (he's 2 years, 5 months, 2 hours and 29 minutes younger than me...we were bored one day when we were younger and figured that out) What side of the bed do you sleep on? I sleep on the right side...which happens to be the side of the bed with the slow leak in the air mattress (like a cheap sleep number bed) - we're going shopping for a new mattress right after the wedding, while FI is still on vacation Do you like to swim? I like to just hang out and relax in the pool, which is nearly impossible in the pool in our community; FI swam competitively when he was younger and set some records (one of which still stands at his high school, 20 years later), so he would really like to have a house with a yard and a pool someday Do you like roller coasters? no way, Jose
