Exciting Things

I'm excited about some stuff that is coming up!

*Tonight I'm going home to a slow-cooker potroast that I put in before I left for work today!
*This weekend I'm running a 5k (more scary than exciting).
*Thanksgiving is coming up (for us American folk) and I picked out a recipe for turkey breast today. . .it is just going to be me and BF this year I think, so I'm not going to do a whole big turkey.
*Christmastime is what I'm most looking forward to in the next few months! We're spending a week with BF's family and then a week with my family! Lots of time off, but I think it will be worth it!!

What kinds of things are you ladies excited about these days? What are you looking forward to today/tonight? This week/weekend? This month? For the remainder of the year?

I too am looking forward to the holidays.  I think we will be spending Thanksgiving just by ourselves (which is fine by me!) and I think I'll make cornished hens (sp?)  or something.  And I'm very excited for Christmas - we are going up to Missouri to visit family and friends.  I haven't seen any of my family/friends since I moved down here in April, so I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to and anxious about the engagement party FI's parents are hosting this Saturday.  I looked forward to spoiling FI for his birthday next next weekend.  I look forward to a Danish Thanksgiving and spending time with both of our families.  I very much look forward to Christmas eve to see what these crazy Danish traditions are that I hear so much about.  Didn't get to partake last year cause FI was in Denmark for two weeks.  He warned me about everyone holding hands and singing and humming as we skipped and danced through the house.  Hahaha....

Jeter -- Cornish hens are so cute! I would totally make those if I didn't love leftover turkey for sandwiches so much!

Lyn -- I can't believe you're engagement party is this weekend!  Super exciting :) And the Danish singing/skipping sounds interesting . . . perhaps you can show pics of this tradition for us after Christmas!

I'm excited about twice baked potatoes and chicken chili tonight - yummy!

I'm SUPER excited for Thanksgiving - I already made a menu, shopping list, and put together a budget.  I also divided up the list into what I can buy ahead of time and what I need to buy a few days before, so I can avoid the crazies as much as possible at the grocery store the week of Thanksgiving.  We're having BF's father and my grandparents down, and a few of our friends who are staying in the area.  It's going to be awesome!

My Mom also bought me an early Christmas gift... new pots and pans!  I adore them, they're stainless steel and can go in the oven up to 450 degrees and are dishwasher safe.  They make me sooo happy every time I use them, and I can't wait to put them to the test for Thanksgiving!!!

Oh, and I'm going HOME this weekend!  Wooo hooo!  I get to see my parents!  I'm not telling any of my friends that I'll be home so I don't have to divide up my time.

Jeter-My family aren't big turkey fans, well my parents aren't the kids are, I love me some turkey.  For thanksgiving when I was little my mom made Cornish game hens for thanksgiving.  It wasn't till my sister and I were old enough that we took over and made turkey.  So my parents were happy to nibble on the dark meat.  Those little game hens always made me want to pick them up and make them dance.  Hahaha...

cschiano-whoo hoo nothing smells better than to come home and have pot roast wafting through the air.  Its like a big ol' WELCOME HOME!

Calindi-Sounds like you have thanksgiving dinner under control. I love stainless steel cookware, took me some getting used to cooking with them since I grew up with non stick, but I love how I can stick the stainless steel in the oven to have the food finish cooking.

    I'm looking forward to:
    * getting some answers at the bridal shop in a couple hours (and seeing my dress again)
    * our yard sale on Saturday at my parent's house - I've been collecting things for months to make room for FI to move in and I can't wait to see how much money we make
    * the craft bizarre at my church on the 12th & 13th (mom & I have a booth) - again hoping to make some money, but I just love those 2 days - we meet so many people and have such a blast at it each year
    * and really excited about FI moving in on Dec 12...we really were insistent that we didn't want to live together before we get married, but when he asked his apartment complex about extending his lease by 3 months (he asked them in August and the lease expires in Dec), they told him sure, but the rent would be doubled (it's a studio apartment in a not so great part of town that does not have a waiting list - the apartment next to him has been empty for several months) - so, they lost out and I get a roomie a couple months early. He works graveyard, so there's only 2 nights a week that he'll actually be home and those 2 nights one of use will sleep in the guest room until the wedding.  Anyone wanna come to Vegas on Dec 12 and help us move (except Dreamer - that's her birthday)?

This post is making me hungry :)

Cate -- you are so organized! I wish I was half this organized.  Respect!

Angie -- I really hope everything turns out ok with your dress!  Don't let them off the hook!  And you've mentioned that craft fair a few times I think. . . it sounds really neat! When I was a kid my grandmother was in charge of the holiday bazaar/craft fair at her church and I got to help out :) I sold pizza and coffee and other stuff in the church kitchen for fair-goers and craftspeople, and also got to shop for jewelry. . .  good memories!

Looking forward to seeing the election results come in tonight!

Also, spending the holidays with my BF. This will be our first holiday season together. Even though things are a little weird with my family right now (don't ask), I know being with him will make it the best holiday season I've ever had, no matter what mishaps occur. :)

Cate, you *would* be excited about potatoes! :)

    - I also cannot wait for Thanksgiving. The day before is usually spent and BFs parent's and the day of at my grandma's. I'm glad I don't have to cook for that many people.
    - Christmas for DD. I'm not big into this holiday. but she totally is and that makes me excited for it.
    - BFs new game should be done and released by the beginning of December. YAY!
    - Our lease is up in January, so we get to look at new places in December. This excites me.
    I'm not good at feelings.

You biitch! I'm SO jealous! I really REALLY wanted new pots and pans, but alas, no one bought them off our registry. :(

Word of warning to those thinking of registering at Target: we got a shitton of gift cards from there and practically nothing from our BBB registry. So I can buy TP for the next year, but it's going to take me that long to amass my Target savings to buy the pots and pans I want from BBB!  By which time we won't get a registry completion discount any more. :(

I'm not sure what I am looking forward to honestly..holidays are going to be iffy thios year , worse than usual. For those not in the know my husband's grandmother had a stroke about 2 months ago now. She is 93 and a fighter - as far as her physical being goes - mentally she is on the verge of insanity/alzheimers. She was fine until this stroke but sadly..it has taken a severe toll mentally on her..none of us expect her to ever fully recover and can only take it day by day.

Because of this thanksgiving is all up in the air. Usually it would be at her home - for obvious reasons we will not be following that tradition and my FIL may end up spending most of the time with his girlfriend's parents in Sacramento instead - so it might just be us.

The rest is up in the air for now. I am looking forward to moving into a larger condo or house next year sometime though ;)
