Weekend Update

I'm so sad it's Monday.  I could use an extra day of sleep.

Saturday I went to a Quilt Show and learned how to actually do binding, aka not the disaster I was doing before hand.  That ish is hard.  M and I had planned on walking around Old Town Alexandria Saturday afternoon, but he got stuck doing laundry and didn't get over until late.  And once he got to my place, he realized he didn't have his wallet or our race packets, so I ended up going with him to his place for the night.

Sunday we got up super early and took the metro into DC for the St. Patty's Day 8K.  It was a bunch of fun - M's mom joined us as well.  I ended up coming in at 51:38, which was awesome, since I hadn't run in like 2 weeks, and I had to walk a couple times (just for a minute, max each time) when I was starting to ache.  My shoes also kicked the bucket at mile marker 3, so the last 2 miles were like running barefoot.  Talk about a rough race.  I'm still super pleased with my time though.

I got new shoes last night, which I'm returning today, since the girl wasn't sure about my feet, and I was worried about not having a new pair in time for my run tonight.  I'm going to run them up to the store I work close to at lunch and see if they'll re-fit me and get me into something I'm confident in.  Apparently I have a neutral right foot, and supinate on my left, which is different than what I had two years ago when I got my last pair, so I had no idea what I needed, and she just kind of stared dumbly at me, handed me a different pair of Brooks, and that was the end of it for her.

Post race photo!

Re: Weekend Update

  • sounds fun!  I'd like to do a 5K this year.  I'm still working up from my foot surgery (I can't do long distances without walking and stretching out the tendon so it doesn't pop).  your time is great!

I did a whole lot of nothing this weekend.  I was just in a "blah" mood the whole time.  I did a ton of sleeping.  today I'm feeling a little more normal, and have a ton of "catch up" to do.  temps are going to rise into the 70's this week and I am just so excited!
  • Peek awesome job on the 8k!!!!  My mom sewed a quilt twice and she had the worse time binding and she used to sew all the time (all of my clothes growing up were sewed by her).  She finally gave up doing it on the second quilt and stopped sewing completely.  She may have been scarred by the incident lol.

Coco-send some of that warm weather my way!

Friday night I made the best dinner, then BF and I hung around Friday night.

Saturday I cleaned the house, did laundry then BF and I took the dog outside for a few hours since the weather was so nice.  I then went to go get my hair cut, but didn't have time to color it, I'll have to go back Thursday night.  Saturday night we played pool and went out to dinner with his old roommates (it was his one roommate's birthday)

Sunday we got breakfast (at McDonalds omg) then went grocery shopping.  Came home took the dog out again for a few more hours.  We went to my friend's house and went to the outlet mall near us for a few hours.  After that adventure plus the time changed we were exhausted by Sunday night!

This week is going to be crazy.  I have to go into work an hour earlier this week since I have to take Wednesday off and I don't want to get dinged on my PTO.

Good news is that our vacation is three months away, and I realized that I paid an extra payment on my mortgage so my whole vacation is paid for which makes me very relieved!!!!

  • I could definitely use another day of just sleeping.

Friday was another show it went well, my parents came to see it and loved it.  Then I went out with the cast for some food. I slept on Saturday until 1:30 in the afternoon, it was so nice.  Saturday was our best show we had over 500 people in the audience, BF & some friends came to see it.  Then we had a cast party by the time we got home it was 4am with the whole spring ahead thing.  We also came home to our heat not working, so I have someone coming out to look at it today.... Why does stuff always go wrong before vacation??????

On Sunday morning I woke up I had another weird engagement ring dream, sigh. That afternoon, I had to go to the theater for a bit to clean up and all.  Then BF & I just stayed in and watched Walking Dead.  It was a really good episode.  :-)  I'm sad the show is over but also glad.  Now I can begin to pack and get ready for the beach.

  • Hey guys!

Great job on the 8k, Peek! Although I would love it if someone could explain to me why there are so many St. Patty's Day events on days that aren't St. Patty's Day. I know of several bar crawls/parties that took place this past weekend as well and I just. dont. get it.

My weekend was amazingly relaxing. We did pretty much nothing. Friday night we watched most of season 1 of Enlightened. Saturday morning I woke up early to finish baking my first ever brioche loaf, and a few hours later I made BF and I some awesome french toast with it. I also made scrambled eggs and mimosas. After breakfast, BF put on Pulp Fiction (which I've never seen), but I fell asleep due to all of the mimosas.

Saturday evening we took Kaya on a looooong walk, since dog parks are off-limits to her now until she gets spayed. We bought some ice cream at Carvel, and bought her a bone at the pet shop before waling home. I worked out with a pilates On Demand video before eating my ice cream - they cancel each other out, right?

Sunday I made us more french toast and more mimosas, and took another nap. Then we took Kaya to the park and hiked through the woods with her for about an hour. She LOVED it, but I dodn't think we'll bring her back until we have her on Frontline, since we found a tick on her afterwards.

I went food shopping and actually bought enough food for the WHOLE week, which I never do. I like having all of our meals planned out for once. Also, I ran into the woman who used to be my boss's boss at my old position - she was a VP in our company. Of course, I looked like a complete slob. Still, it was nice catching up with her and she told me all about the company she works for now. From now on, I will look halfway decent when I go food shopping, just in case.

Sunday night I made a delicious dinner of southwest salmon, corn on the cob, and toasted baguette, and when we watched more Enlightened, played Phase 10, watched Girls, and went to bed.

  • Peek- I've always wanted to learn how to quilt! I've been watching a lot of videos on youtube that explain how to get started and go through each step but I'm so nervous that I'm going to screw it up. I would like to actually take a class that way I'll have someone guiding me.

Coco- We are getting some warmer weather too. I'm loving it!

Buddy- That's awesome that your vacation is getting closer and that it's paid off! I'm in need of a vacation soon or else I might just crash and burn because I'm so tired. Daylight savings did not treat me very well this weekend.

FI and I have decided on our wedding venue for our ceremony and reception! We visited two more this weekend and one of them almost changed our minds but a couple of our relatives are wheelchair bound and the facility made it very difficult for them to go from place to place since there were stairs everywhere! Besides all that, we had a pretty productive weekend but we are both exhausted.

FI's Dad and Stepmom met my parents this weekend which turned out very nicely. They all got along great. Now we just need to introduce his Mom and Stepdad which might be a little more complicated since his mother and stepdad travel constantly and are never home.

This week should be more relaxed than last week, tonight I'm meeting with a photographer that I love so I hope all goes well with that.

  • Everyone's weekends sound so much fun/exciting! As for my weekend, all I did on Saturday was sleep in, catch up on my DVR, read on my Kindle, hung out with my roommate then BF came over around 11:00 pm that night so we hung out and stayed up till 3:00 am. Which we ended up regretting with the time change, bleh.

Then yesterday, BF and I went to Marietta to get my bedroom furniture!!! I was so excited. And now I have a lovely nightstand, chest of drawers and a bed frame. All of my cardboard boxes have officially been kicked out of my apartment. It feels so good to be all unpacked and moved in. :)

It's no problem, we are getting married at Founders Hall in Roswell, GA. It's an old historic home that's centered in the middle of downtown Roswell. When I pulled up to the venue, FI was already there and he ran outside to meet me and was immediately smiling and saying he loves it already haha. We both felt at home there and we were so impressed.

  • My weekend was fantastic! Exhausting, but fantastic.
Friday night, el senor and I went to see Silver Linings Playbook. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It was amazing.

Saturday, our plans changed a bit. It was really nice out, and Bean just wanted to hang at the barn and play all day. I was actually relieved that I didn't need to rush home, shower and then drive an hour north for the scouting banquet we were originally supposed to attend. We discovered that Bean went through another major growth spurt and has now outgrown his saddle. Not only that, but based on what we're seeing, he's also going to outgrow his pony princess by the end of the year. So, now we have to hunt for a nice used saddle over the next few weeks, and start thinking about moving him up to a small horse for next season. Thankfully, one of my trainer's other clients showed up to drop off some stuff from the vet, and she has a wonderful small hunter that would be a perfect transition horse for Bean. In a couple of years, we're going to have to start hitting the C.A.N.T.E.R. ads and looking for a 16.3-17hh OTTB for him to graduate to. It was a little bittersweet, and I ended up stressing on the way home. El senor calmed me down with his 'Ok/No biggie/One step at a time' attitude. I love how much he supports our sport of choice.

Saturday night, we went to see Oz, The Great and Powerful. Honestly, it was not at all what I expected. It was a bit too much on the cutesy side for my liking. It wasn't terrible, though.

Sunday, I went to JenJen's and got to finally meet Tiger! Guys, she is so freaking awesome. I want to be her when I grow up. I drank a whole bottle of wine in a pretty short amount of time (not my best idea), devoured some cheese, chocolate and pie. I was tickled that Tiger expected me to be taller haha. I actually thought she was super tall, but she's just a few inches taller than me. So we were both a little shocked. :)

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.

  • Morning, ladies.  I'm not even remotely human this morning...stayed up too late last night with FI and feeling it this morning.  Ugh.

Danser- Congrats on the show!  That is huge!  What kind of wierd engagement dreams are you having?

Peek- Congrats on the marathon...that is awesome.

mhollister- I'm glad you found your venue.  That really is the biggest decision in my opinion so I can understand why it is a relief to have it picked out.

Our weeked was full of wedding stuff.  RSVP has come (this ast Friday) and gone but still tracking down people.  WHY is it so friggen difficult to check a box and mail something that is pre-stamped for you?  Then we get a hold of people and some of them are like "of course we are coming, we wouldn't miss it for the world"...then MAIL BACK THE RSVP.  Rant over.

I finished my welcome bags though for out of towners....I think they look nice.  :)  Here they are (without the tissue paper I ended up putting in them after taking these pics):

They each have a different engagement picture of us, a welcome note, two bottles of water (water is expensive in Chicago hotels) and some Chicago-oriented products including some Quaker Oat bars, some Frango chocolate mints and some Jay's potato chips.
  • Bean- so very jealous of your get together!

Minskat-  I had a dream I was cleaning up around the house and I found a bunch of boxes I was going to throw them out but one had a box inside of it that was from blue nile and a note saying congratulations on the purchase of your engagement ring.  I remember being so sad that I found in the dream I stopped cleaning put the boxes back the way I found them, so BF wouldn't know.

WHAT. How?? Have you seen The Big Lebowski or Fargo?

On Saturday, we slept in then went to Chattanooga to go to the Aquarium. We had pizza at this awesome place called Lupi's then came home and stayed up until 4:30 in the morning on Sunday because we lost track of time while watching Reno 911. We also went to our first Super Target on the way home and got a TON of groceries. They had so many gluten free options!!

Yesterday, I went to my parents' house to Skype as a family with my Grandma in California. Afterwards, I went to visit with a woman whose son I took care of when he was a baby -- he died last January of cancer and she's started a nonprofit for children with cancer. They're going to start doing a parents' night out and want nurses to help, so I volunteered. We're doing the first PNO next month if all of the insurance works out.

I also went to the international grocery store in the shady part of town yesterday. I'd forgotten how awesome that store is! I got a ton of stuff including gluten free falafel, crystal sago, sweet brown rice, $0.79 avocados, Thai tea, furikake... I was gonna get some halva, but decided against it in the end because I got that sago.

Daylight savings is such a nightmare. I'm exhausted today.

Awwww, I'm sorry.  Dreams about these kinds of things suck...I had a dream recently that everything at our wedding in a few weeks was a disaster recently.  Woke up in a panic and FI just laughed it off.  I hate wierd dreams.
  • Hi there!

    My weekend was pretty busy.

Friday, I went home, worked out, showered, then packed. FI, Lucy, and I headed down the shore to my aunt's beach house which we've turned into 'wedding central'.

On Saturday, we got up and ran to a few stores to get some last minute supplies. Then my mom, FMIL, FI and I spent the rest of the day finishing the centerpieces, the corks for the escort cards, and getting the photobooth frames in order.

Yesterday, FI and I drove home, went food shopping, and then I spent the rest of the day cooking lunches and chopping veggies for the week. We had a Devils game last night but I didn't feel like going so FI went with a friend. I relaxed for the first time all weekend and it was lovely :)

    <div>I forgot to take pics :( </div><div>
</div><div>This is from the last time we worked on stuff. Basically we had to buy all new branches for inside the bottles and we painted those. And worked on the cork-wrapped votives with ribbons. We decided to do these votives on all of the tables (originally we were doing the cork votives on the tables with the wine bottles and plain votives on the tables with the lanterns) and ran out of corks so I ordered 500 more and have to work on them between now and the wedding. </div><div>

</div><div>This pic is also from the last time, but we cut the bottoms of the corks for the escort cards so they'll sit flat on the table.

  • Yay, lots of exciting stuff going on!

Congrats on the 8K, Peek!  I was a little terrified because I'm running my first 5K supposedly on my birthday (aka rdr's wedding date!) and I know nothing about what you were talking about with the shoes, BUT I did buy some sweet Merrell running shoes that are treating me very well so far in the training.  No one's ever heard of Merrell, but they're awesome.  In my ya know, nonprofessional opinion.

mhollister, so excited you found a venue!  I didn't notice a ticker up yet, lol.  You said October/November of this year, right?  That's so exciting!  We have two more venues to look at this Friday (obviously, we only look at venues when FI can flex time off work, haha) and then we're determined to make a decision.  We were SO overwhelmed about this decision on Friday though.  So hopefully we can finish that up smoothly.

    As for my weekend:

Friday, we looked at venues.  Overwhelmed as we liked both of them but they're both inconvenient (nowhere near hotels) for our guests, so they're not really going to work.  Even with a shuttle, it's a 15 minute drive so the shuttle wouldn't be very helpful.

Saturday, we ran our last day of week 2 of C25K.  I did a lot better breathing than I did last week (I'm allergic to leaf mold, so as soon as I go outside, my nose forgets to breathe.  Not helpful when you're running.)  I took my allergy meds a bit earlier than I had last week, so hopefully that's all I had to change.  Then we went golfing.  I stunk and got like 3 over on every hole.

Sunday, we cleaned the yard - picking up sticks, raking up old leaves we left there at the end of fall, etc.  We've had a LOT of wind storms lately, so we had a lot of sticks down.  We also prepared the garden for spring (or started to.)  We still have to start our tomatos, which we'll do sometime this week (once we get some dirt)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

[QUOTE]I'm back to work after being out for 2 weeks after surgery. It is not fun. I feel like I can't even remember this weekend because the last two weeks just blurred together. Here is what I think happend. Friday I started pulling apart my Closet of Doom (the resting place of all things that didn't yet have a home in my home) and made a huge mess but some progress. B came over after work and we got dinner (I had a burrito, yum) and continued watching Six Feet Under. B was tired so I suggested he nap while I continue cleaning. Before he napped we had a quickie, which was really fun and made me feel good because we had sort of a weird sex talk about two weeks ago. After he woke up we watched some more Six Feet Under and then went to bed. Saturday B went home for the morning to do stuff at his place and I continued cleaning and doing work. He came back over and brought me Dunks and we watched more Six Feet Under and<strong> then watched the movie Push. </strong>At some point we had food and I don't even remember what. Saturday evening I went out with my friend Jamie for a margarita and then went to B's house and B, his roommate, and I drank a few Coronas and watched an episode of Planet Earth while we looked up cool tattoos on the interwebz.  Sunday I slept til almost 1:00 because I haven't been sleeping well. It's the first time I have done that since maybe college. I did some work while B played an online game, then we worked all afternoon to put up these mirror hangings I got from Ballard Designs. At night I went to Target and the grocery store and picked us up food on the way home. We watched more Six Feet Under and then I cried because I had to go back to work today.
