So, I'm looking at shews.... shews.... shews. (Shoes)
The reception place that we have has polished concret floors and of course I am waaaaaay shorter then FI. So I have been looking at shoes. The ones I like are from Cole Haan, have nike air technology so they are softer on concrete.

So, here is my question. They are a leeeeettle pricey. Would you guys justify it if you were working OT? Like it can be my OT present?
If not, someone talk me down.
PS- I'm going to get them dyed bright blue or red.

Re: Give me some honest opinions please....
This is how I justify large purchases.
Take the price, then divide by how much you think you'll wear them.
If you wear them only 20 times, thats only 14 dollars per wear. Not bad.
BUT I've never heard good things about dyed shoes. The only bad thing I can think of right now is that the dye can get on your dress. There were others. You can usually find some posts about them on the Attire board and I would definitely check out what people have to say about them. I'm not sure I would risk that much money on dyed shoes.
Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
My word of warning on dying the shoes: If you're going to attempt to DIY, be careful. Before I decided on the Converses I tried to dye a pair of satin ballet flats and completely destroyed them. They shrank so much in the pot of boiling water that I could never wear them again. I'd have them professionally dyed if you can find that service somewhere.

I guess the reason that I am even considering buy them is b\c we have overtime raining on us now, and it's money I wouldn't normally have, so why not splurge?
Oh and I would never dye them myself, I would do a bunch of research and take them somewhere, if they ruin them, they can buy me a new pair.
So basically, the shoes wouldn't be in the budget at all, they would be my gift to me.
I think you deserve to get yourself a gift!!

just based on this, i say do it. you're giving tons away in all the other aspects of the wedding, treat yourself to something you wouldn't normally splurge on. as long as it's not going to be an irresponsible purchas - and it sounds like you've got that part covered - then how could we say no? definitely get them dyed professionally, protect that investment. and you're good to go!
never heard of this nike heels thing so now i am reeeeaaally intrigued....
i am actually looking at getting http://www.fluevog.com/code/?pp=5&view=detail&p=145&colourID=1904 and the price tag scares me but FI is telling me , if i want them , get them because he loves the way they look and knows i would wear them all the time. Sometimes it's okay to s[plurge and reward ourselves. i think they sound great!
And like babybchbum said, take them to Payless to get dyed. They do a great job. They dyed all my sister's dance shoes back in the day.
I spend big bucks on running shoes. Otherwise my toenails turn black and fall off. (I'm back up to 7 toenails right now - whooo hooo!!) If you've got feet problems, go for it. It's an investment in your health, really...
If they are being paid for by unexpected income, I say go for it. Meaning, if they will not be paid for out of your wedding budget and there is nothing else pressing, get them! I'll sit here and be envious!!!
Honestly, I could never bring myself to pay that much for a pair of shoes. I think the most expensive pair of shoes I've ever bought were like $40. But I'm an unabashed bargain bin hunter and refuse to buy things full price.
My co-worker found a pair of Cole's Nike heels at a Marshall's and she LOVES them though. So if you go through with it, it will be a good investment!
I would definitely do your research before dying them though. Don't want to chance ruining absolute perfection!
Red already... and cheaper... win-win! If you honestly will wear them again and again get them, otherwise I'd keep looking for some comfy heels that are a little less expensive or an outlet.
