Purple Ideas

Hey everyone!

 

My wedding isn’t for about a year and a half, but I’m trying to start getting some ideas for stuff. Our colors are going to be a bright/deep purple (not lavender, not dark-dark purple) and black. I’ve been skimming the internet for ideas, but I wanted to ask if anyone had anything they had seen. Any ideas on types of flowers to look at, favors for the bridal party, decorations for the ceremony and reception, invitations, places to find crafts and such, etc. would be much appreciated! :-)

Flowers all depend on your season, unless budget is not an issue.  My wedding has purple as its main color and I am incorporating de-saturated greens & various shades of pink.  The centerpieces and accents will all be gold.  (purple and yellow are complimentary and look stunning against each other).

I went to the florest and said, there are my colors, I told her what style I liked and she picked the flowers for me.

We are using Hydrangea (green & pink), Peonies (dark pink & blush pink), dark purple Stock, dahlias and an assortment of other flowers.

Janxo - the wedding is April 5, so it will be in the springtime. I love those flowers you picked out!

RetreadBride - We (fiance and I) had been thinking about using silver as an accent color. I hadn't thought about turqouise, but that sounds really pretty! I'll definitely look into that!

FWIW - my experience was that the bridesmaid dresses determined the colors, and that some flexibility was needed because of logistics, dress costs, and the different colors offered by different makers.

Once I had those dresses chosen and settled, everything else fell into place. Oh and I got some fabric swatches of the BM dress color for matching. which other vendors loved. and really helped all the other planning. So I recommend starting there if you're thinking colors.

For invitations/STDs - Wedding Paper Divas, hands down. I just can't say enough how awesome their site and service has been, at decent prices. When you go to their site you can sort on "purple" and it will give you every option in that color range. Even if  you don't buy from them, their site allows you to personalize any of their products right online so you can see what it would look like with your own writing and fonts.

re: black - totally just my own opinion, but hopefully your wedding is at night if you're using black. Be aware that guests will see it as a "punk rock" type of look and theme paired with purple, especially if you're having a daytime wedding. Keep experimenting and good luck! Best wishes, Jennifer
