Registry Stalking...

I'll admit it.  I just did it.  Invitations for our first shower went out last week, and apparently over the weekend people started buying things!  Specifically Monopoly and Sorry off our Target registry.  :-)  So excited!  I hope that people that live near us bought those, so we can play with them.  Or at least I hope they visit us often so we can play.  :-D

YAY! glad people are getting you fun stuff. I keep saying I WILL NEVER  registry stalk, but I have a feeling I will once the ball gets rolling.

I too am guilty of this. It's like christmas when there are presents under the tree you get all excited. I'm getting napkins!

I did it too!  Mom let it slip that the invites went out in the last couple of weeks, and people have started to buy stuff!  I'm SO excited, and I know it won't make the surprise any less for me.

I think it is important to check your registry.  You need to make sure that there are gifts in a variety of price ranges.  At least that is what I told myself.

    Haha!!

My first shower invites also just went out!

I will strongly attempt to NOT stalk them, because I LOVE surprises and hate ruining things for myself. I'm the type of person who will close my eyes and run the opposite way if an unwrapped gift for me is near.

But we will see how it goes. I will try to have my mom check it to see what i need to add.

Ohh, I will totally be a registry stalker, no doubt about it.
  • edited December 2011
I have always been the type that likes the surprise. I never used to peek at my presents. I even knew exactly where my mom hid them and still never looked. That being said, I don't think I'll be able to NOT look at the registry.

We registered yesterday at Target and will be going one day this week to do JCPenney. I'm having a hard time thinking of things to register for so I think our list is small. We live together so we have a lot of what people register for. No need for a microwave, coffee pot, toaster, etc. Around here people tend to buy gifts for the shower and give cash for the wedding. I'm hoping I'll be able to get by with our smallish registry but I'll have to go on and see what people are buying so I can add more if I need to. I can always use more wooden spoons, spatulas, etc...

You guys are funny! :) I guess I move too often. I hate "stuff". BF already has two houses in one; mine makes three. We do well financially compared to our families. We would have a hard time coming up with a registry.

I felt that same way, Paint.  FI and I both lived by ourselves before we moved in together.  We ended up having so much crap that we actually need a house about twice as big as the one we could afford.  I didn't know what I was going to put on the registry, so I had a heart to heart with my mom and my Matron of Honor and explained how I felt, and they both said "well, most of the stuff you and FI have is from college/law school and you got it for $5 at Wal-Mart.  Just register for upgrades.  That way if you get it, it's all nice new stuff for you to start your lives together with, and if you don't, it's no harm, no foul because you already had it, it's just kinda old/mismatched/whatever.  Oh, and you get to register for fun stuff too, since you don't need that much for your house!"  That last part was my MOH, haha.  But we ended up registering for some seasonal stuff to help us grill out, and some lake toys since FI and I both have access to lakehouses, and the board games of course, along with upgrades to appliances, sheets, and towels, and (heaven help us) MATCHING dinnerware that is ALL microwave AND dishwasher safe!

UPDATE:  OMG someone bought our Slap Chop.  I am in heaven.  "Making American skinny, one slap at a time!"  Cannot wait to use that thing.  I'm such a sucker for infomercials.

LOL Slap Chop. Good one. :) On this move, every mismatched or otherwise screwed up item I have is going to charity, recylce, or trash, whichever is appropriate. Then when I get HERE, bf's stuff is getting similar treatment - if I have the full set or a better whatever, his goes "buh bye".
  • edited December 2011

Hey, don't knock the Slap Chop. Those things are AMAZING.

Don't worry about registering for "non-typical" items. I just told FI the other day that we're registering for a fire bowl, so help me God. lol

Haha I think you're allowed to stalk. It'll still be a surprise when you find out who got what!

    Also, hooray for games!

I never thought of putting things like board games on a registry ^_^ Sounds like something I would do...that and DVD's. I think our registry might be mostly DVD's. My boyfriend is starting to collect Blu-Rays too... *gears turning*

SLAP CHOP =) my friend is a stand up comic and she does a routine about the Slap Chop. "You're gonna love my nuts! " xD

I'm sure I will do this. I'm not a fan of peeking at presents, but the registry might be hard to resist. It's right there, afterall, and it's not like you're looking at the actual items. Plus, there will still be surprises.
He pretty much had me at "hello".

My shower invites just went out.  I looked online today at one of our places for the above posts and no bites yet.  I agree it's important to check every once in a while in case something gets discontinued or becomes unavailable.
