How could you not be excited with all these damned engagement commercials?!?! haha...but we have a no holiday rule...holidays are already special as it is...making an ordinary day extraordinary is the best bet for us!

But I'll keep my fingers crossed for all you ladies hoping for an engagement this xmas! :o)

Those engagement commercials drive me up the wall!  Gah!  They're everywhere.  It REALLY doesn't help that I have this embarrassing (seriously) quirk.  I hiccup when I'm thinking deep thoughts or apparently almost anytime I think about marriages/weddings/engagements/etc.  It's a dead tell.  So an engagement commercial comes on, I hiccup, and the boyfriend will sometimes tease me about it.  If it's not already painfully clear what's on my mind, sheesh.

A year ago, (we've been together two) I had briefly been sidetracked into looking at rings online(guilty!), and he apparently saw this and then asked me while we were out to dinner, "So... why are you looking at rings?"

....the hiccup sounded like a pterdactyl screech and people whipped their heads around to look at me, and I have yet to live it down.  He STILL teases me about it.

I feel the same anticipation for a holiday proposal.  I am trying not to get my hopes up though, my bf and I are long distance until I get through my undergrad and we have talked about how we want to be engaged when we are together again, "together full time" as he puts it.  It wouldn't be as enjoyable if we were apart for our engagement.

He was acting very suspicious for our two year anniv in november.  He told me that my gift did not belong in a bag and he was not going to wrap it.  He wanted the whole date to be a surprise and had made plans for the whole evening.  He seemed very antsy as well.  Some part of me was hoping for a proposal, but it did not happen.  He got me a beautiful necklace that is everything I could possibly want in jewelry, but it was not what I secretly hoped it would be.  I do love the necklace and wear it all the time!

He is acting very suspicious for the holiday season as well.  I mentioned how I do not mind waiting for an engagement but told him I thought about it a lot, and he asked me not to talk or think about it so that I would be surprised. I am more excited to see him than anything though, long distance relationships are no fun at all.

I have no idea why my mind tries to think about an engagement.  I want to wait, but I think that with the void of him being gone and across the country is trying to fill itself with something else; an engagement.  I am glad that I joined this website so I won't feel like the only girl with this anticipation.

[QUOTE]Yesterday, BF and I went to see the tree at Rockefeller Center (actually, we went to my father's office, and it was on the way). Of course, I felt very magical and asked BF if would ever consider proposing to me by the tree. His response? "Hell no! That's so cliche." Sometimes I wish for a holiday proposal, but I know that no matter WHEN we get engaged, the day will automatically be made special.

Saturday Night, BF & I are going to dinner and then to see the Radio City Christmas Show... of course, a stop at the Tree will be necessary.... hhmmm lol

I say the same thing.... sooo cliche...

you know what else is cliche... Yankee Stadium... I love my Yankees but it would be so embarassing... cuz there's always a camera there for some reason! lol
