Not Engaged Yet

Convince me...

... that it's nothing!  Convince me it's a generic email!

I just got an email from the jeweler where BF and I had looked at rings in June.  I guess they had my email on their files from when we visited (I also had looked at watches for him, as his 'engagement watch', so that's why).  Anyway, I just got an email that said, "Thank you for your business!" And then some generic stuff about appreciating their customers.

Now, it could be just a generic mass email to all emails they have on file.  Right?  RIGHT?!  Not anything to do with the fact that BF and I were just talking about getting engaged this past weekend - and the idea that we might be bumping things up from September 2012 to March 2012 - and that he asked how long I wanted to plan so he knew when to ask (I said ideally close to a year).  He couldn't possibly have just gone and bought a ring, right?!  AHHHH!!!!!

Please convince me this is just a generic email.  Because my palms are sweating and my heart is racing.  As soon as I saw that email in my inbox, it was like a jolt of electricity went through my body.  I'm shaking just a little.  Oh my goodness... oh my goodness!

ETA:  I also have not gotten a single email from this company since the day we visited.  Gah... and we don't celebrate Valentines Day at all, so that can't be it.

OMG!! How exciting! You're making me all anxious now!

It could be generic or....not! Sorry, I'm doing a horrible job of convincing you but I can't help it!

Try not to think about it and just let it happen!

Unless you also get a "thank you" email from a pony breeder, there is no engagement coming.

BF and I went to Helzberg a long time ago just to learn and look. I signed up for emails...and i get emails like that all the time. I would assume that since it's close to Valentine's Day and since you were looking at engagement rings - they are just trying to keep themselves fresh in your mind. Stay calm. If it happes earlier YAY - and if not, you won't be disappointed. :)

I got an email once saying I was related to a Nigerian prince and that I was in his will! They just needed my bank account info to send me the inheritance. It turns out it wasn't true :(

Soo, sidenote: I just realized it's nearly Valentine's Day. Who knew?

They just want your money, so they sent out this generic email to everyone so that people will rush in to buy Valentine's jewellery. Because they all forgot like I did.

That was the plan.  Then this weekend we decided we want to get married in Costa Rica in March 2012 (instead of Sept 2012) so he said that he was going to propose by March so we could have more time to let people know about the DW.  I told him to take his time, that we'd figure it out.  He said he was going to talk to his family this week to see what they thought about Costa Rica before we went forward with it.  So we sort of agreed to move things up a bit... maybe.

And I really want to believe this is a generic email to keep my sanity... but I have a rather sneaking suspicion it's not.  Maybe he just went to talk to them, and this is a follow up?  My email is definitely on our file for them - he never likes to give his out.  And I have not received a single email from them until this.

Can't copy and paste since it's an image... but I'll write it out:

    "Thank you for your business!"

    (Image of jewelry)

"For over 29 years, ***** Jewelry has been serving clients in the South Florida area.  We appreciate your recent business, and hope that everything is to your satisfaction.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if we can ever be of assistance"

    "All the best,
    *Store Owners*"

Like I said... doesn't say "purchase", but...

But still!  Talk me DOWN!  (I'm definitely getting calmer since I originally wrote this post - my heart has slowed from a mile a minute, but my palms are still a bit sweaty.)

I think what they are referring to as 'business' is you coming in. I think that they are just trying to hook you into coming back to purchase something.

Good customer service, I must say.

    Dude...ok.

    1)  Calm down.

    2)  Your BF definitely bought you a pretty set of earrings as a congrats for keeping up with your running.

    3)  Even if he did buy a ring, he'd have to save up for a pony first.

    4)  Since he is deducting the money he donated to you running on his taxes, he used the extra money to buy you pretty earrings.

    5)  If he was going to propose soon, he would have done so in Disney when he surprised you this weekend.

    6)  If he had bought you a ring soon, he'd have to plan the perfect proposal, which would take at LEAST 3 months, at which point, he'll be in exams season.

You're NOT getting engaged UNTIL summer AT THE EARLIEST!

    How did I do?

ETA:  Even if he DID buy a ring, it could still take him MONTHS to propose.

As someone with access to her company's mass customer emailing system, they probably just plug in a big ol' list of customer email addresses, and out pops all the generic emails. But you want to make sure no one customer gets too many emails, so you just spread them out. In fact, the computer system makes sure this doesn't happen, because too  many emails equals annoyed customers.

    See, perfectly logical explanation.

ETA: I also agree with Shoes' point #5, because who wouldn't propose at Disney given the chance?  =)
