So its not really on topic, but as long as we are confessing things, I have someone I can't stand, she makes me crazy, and everything about her ticks me off. She just got married this summer, in my dream venue, with the colors I had hoped to have (not hard to figure out b/c I am obsessed witht the color purple...)  She had a Tiffany ring (that she insisted on), she is spoiled, and married him after knowing him for 9 months (b/c she "can always get divorced") She got her way on everything for the wedding, even though her parents were paying, was told it was 'her special day'. In the end, she wouldn't even let her Dad walk her down the aisle, because she wanted the focus to be on her.

But I have to deal with her because she is SO's younger sister. *rolls eyes*

Acro and Desert - adaptation is the name of the game, and you both have done a beautiful job in welcoming new faces while maintaining old friendships, in my opinion.  There are others who have also been gracious, too, but some simply would prefer the board remain as it was, and it's obvious dynamics change on a public board like this.

Acro, I'm really sorry to hear about the spotting and I can totally understand the mixed emotions.  I'm glad you've got a job offer in a field you're excited about more than law (what is it, by the way?).  I've always felt it's more important to be happy in life than to follow a certain path.  You're smart and will do great at whatever career you choose to pursue!  You're not the only recent law grad who has mixed feelings about the profession - I have several friends going into consulting because they don't want to work for a firm or the government.  Good luck!

Acro I'm sorry to hear that.  Spotting isn't conclusive though, right?

I don't really have a confession.  Oh okay, here's one:

I am SO pissed at my friend.  He's pretty weird and I put up with his quirks but he always asks me to get together at this one restaurant after work that's near both of our apartments.  And so I go and the same thing happens every time.  We sit there for hours and I eventually order food because I'm hungry and this place has really good gourmet pizza.  He proceeds not to order anything after his first glass of wine and then when my food comes, he inevitably eats at least 2 of my 8 pizza slices.

But tonight he pulled a real humdinger.  I asked to set up a tab whereas Friend paid in cash.  His wine cost $5.  He gave the bartender $5.  No tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I didn't really notice this until he said "I wish I had a single so I could give him a tip."  At that point I told him I had a $20 we could break and I could spot him $1 but he waved me off.  Seriously who sits at a bar for hours and doesn't tip?!  We have both known this bartender for years and years!

I admit, sometimes I preferred things the way they were when I joined several months ago. The board seemed more active and sometimes silly (in a fun way). But I also felt like I had to be careful about what I posted to make sure it wouldn't be taken the wrong way.

There have been a lot of new people lately, and I'm having trouble remembering who's who. I just finally stopped confusing Breezer and Deburnin!

I confess that I'm already kind of bored with wedding stuff (just over a month in). I don't think I looked at anything other than Knot forums in the last week and a half (and I'm usually just on NEY and SB...sometimes E if I'm bored).

I also confess that I feel disappointed when women change their last names to that of their husbands'. It's absolutely their choice, but to me that feels like giving up one's identity, and I don't like the social expectation that it's the women who have to change.

Hey GPB!  ::waves back::  Thanks for the vibes.  :-)  Edit:  And thank you too, Loopy!

Cate~  It's as a real estate appraiser.  Specfically commercial real estate.  My dad did it for years before moving on to the development side of real estate, so I'm familiar with it and think I would enjoy it.  The market is glutted with lawyers right now, so it's next to impossible to get (much less keep) a job unless you're working for the government or military.  However, there is not a single MAI in our town, and only about 20 within 100 miles, so it'll be much easier to get into that market.

NQB~  Thanks for the thoughts.  Spotting isn't generally conclusive, but a BFN on a test usually is, haha.  I'm trying to stay in good spirits about it.  One month doesn't mean there's anything wrong, and I was so stressed about the job stuff it doesn't surprise me at all that it didn't work.  We can try again though, and we will.  I'll keep you and the rest of the UBBs updated I'm sure.  :-)

Oh, I have another confession, and it's Baby BSC.  (I know I know, wrong forum, whatever).  DH and I have decided to cloth diaper to save money, and I found a newborn diaper on Spot's Corner (a diaper-selling site) that had Mickey Mouse print on it and I just had to have it.  So I bought it.  Before I got KU'ed.  Meh.

Acro, it seems to be a TK problem with a lot of girls.  Luckily, the only person who can see that the post is "centered" is the person who posted it.  To the rest of us, it looks normal.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll get KU when the time is right for you!  Stress can definitely affect your whole body, so it definitely could have had an impact this month.  Hang in there, enjoy TTC, and come back and tell us when you're KU!

    Ohhh... I like this post.

    1.  I agree with some of the PPs about the "old guard".  It makes me feel bad personally when you say you miss it; it's like the women on here aren't good enough or worth your concern.  IMPO, some (but NOT all) of the old guard members were extremely rude just for the sake of being rude and it took away from the board.

    2.  I secretly judge other people's rings too.  I don't understand how people expect to be able to afford a wedding/honeymoon if they can't afford an engagement ring.  I also secretly wonder what people ACTUALLY think of my ring.  (That paranoia started when a female law school friend of mine essentially told me my ring was ugly and not her taste.)

    3.  This is hands down the most flameful.  When I was younger, I was going through a really hard time and was sick and tired of being objectified by men.  So I told this guy who I had hooked up with that he got me pregnant when he never did.  It was hands down the most awful thing I've ever done in my life.  In my mind, I wanted to teach him a lesson that every girl you have sex with can be potential baby momma, no matter how careful you are, so you shouldn't treat women like disposable sex toys.  I regret it immensely, and after years of stewing over it, I eventually wrote to him and told him the truth.  I still feel bad about it.

    4.  There was a period of about a month when law school first started that I had serious doubts about FI...not because of him or anything he did.  I was just worried that we were going to grow apart and started to wonder if I AM too young to make this sort of life commitment to someone.  I have since felt a LOT better about things.  It was just a lot of change happening at once and I freaked out.

    5.  If anyone wants to be FB friends with me, let me know and I'll PM you my real name.

I think a lot of people just have different tastes. I don't like most of my friends' rings. They're not ugly, just not my style. People probably don't like mine, either, and that's okay.

GPB - You mentioned judging small rings. I actually first got mine with a 1-carat equivalent. I took it back to get the 0.75 carat equivalent. I didn't like it--it was just too big. Which brings me to my ring judgy-ness. I can't stand big gaudy rings. I've come across coworkers over the years with big honkin' rings, and I've been known to make fun of the ring behind their back.

I haven't decided anything yet.  I have until Dec. 17 at my old job, so at the very least I'm going to wait a few more weeks to see if I hear from anyone other than the current offer.  I still need to meet with the real estate appraiser that made the offer and work out details to make sure I'll be happy with it also, but so far it's looking to be a pretty good deal, so there's a good chance I'll take it unless something too awesome to pass up (in the legal field or something related to real estate, in our hometown, and with a raise would be something too awesome to pass up) falls into my lap.

I also think huge, gigunda rings look gaudy. What I meant by "small" are like, rings whose center stone you'd need a magnifying glass to see.

I like bren.  She's hella coo'.

Desert just went into my brain and pulled out most of my thoughts.  I don't always agree but I really try not to be mean...sometimes I'm a little harsh but sh!t happens, we all have our big girl panties on.  Obviously, I clicked with a lot of the "old guard" ladies.  And I'm okay with that.  I think I click with the newer ladies too (yeah that's right, I'm popular...at least in my head).  I don't always like the warm fuzzy around here but there have been some nice changes.  I think I've been able to adapt without too much fuss.  I also would be proud to be assoicated with the "old guard" and the UBBs.  Love them all.

Also, Loopy has a PM =P

I honestly like the rings of most of the girls on here.  When I don't like someone's ring or when I'm honestly indifferent, I don't mention anything.  To me, the proposal is much more important than the ring.  I'd rather hear a cute proposal story than see a pretty ring any day!  And I honestly dislike most of the engagement rings of my friends, including my Mom's engagement ring.  I think they're unfinished looking, like the craftmanship is shoddy.

I confess that while I don't hate everything that's going on now, the board really bores me.

I was planning on hanging around at least until I got engaged, but now I'm not so sure.

I also confess that if one more person shows me something that has to do with a narwhal and present it like I haven't seen it twelve times before, shins will be kicked.
