1. Do you personally know any veterans?
My grandfather is a WWII vet, my uncle was in the navy. I have four friends that have served in Afghanistan/Iraq, and three made it back.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
About three months after we started dating, his grandmother passed away. He flew home for about two weeks for the funeral/family visiting, and I stayed at his place to take care of his new puppy. A hurricane (ended up being a tropical storm) was about to roll through town, and they sent us all home from school/work to get ready...he called me the night before it hit to make sure I had everything I needed and that I was safe inside. The last thing he told me before he let me go was "Be safe. I want you in one piece when I get back." I don't know why, but my heart totally went splat right then and there.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
Doing something physical - yoga, working out, going for a walk. It tends to take my mind off of whatever's getting to me.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
I would love to spend two weeks in South Africa with my FI. Spend a week doing humanitarian work (building houses, working in shelters, etc.) and a week doing sightseeing (safaris, great white shark diving, etc.).

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
I love the fact that we are such a short drive to the ocean (think 10 min) and that I can go diving (comfortably) for about 6-8 months out of the year. I also love that I have a tightknit group of friends that serve as a second family. I hate how rude people are down here, and how crappy the drivers are down here.

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not?
I'm still friends, or at least on friendly terms, with all but one of my exes. Two of them will be at our wedding. My high school sweetheart is still one of my closest friends.

7. Favorite seasonal food (fall/winter)?
Pumpkin. Pumpkin anything - pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin pie, pumpkin lattes...

8. Knottie you'd most like to meet IRL?
I'm really blessed - I get to hang out with rickylee and ana on a regular basis, being in the same general vicinity. I would love to meet all of my uppity bitches at some point...but one in particular, we've got something brewing.

9. Do you believe in/follow any superstitions?
I always knock on wood. Like it's really going to do anything, but it's force of habit.

10. What TV show(s) are on your DVR (or that you always make a point to watch)?
Unsolved Mysteries, Mythbusters, True Blood, Man vs. Food, Criminal Minds...we have Boardwalk Empire on our DVR, I just haven't gotten around to actually watching them.

1. Do you personally know any veterans? 
My daddy! He's a Cold War Vet... he worked on the Berlin Wall. My grandpa was in WWII, but I never met him. The rest of my family hasn't really been in the country long enough to serve in any wars.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
I can't think of the first time that it hit me, but I remember it was before we even started dating. It was a kind of immature love, I know that for sure, but it's grown a lot since then and I'm thankful for that. Last night we went to an art show and we were sitting there, and I was looking at his hands and I just got completely engrossed in them, thinking about how those hands are going to do so much for the rest of our lives... it's sort of cheesy, I guess. But it was a really powerful moment for me.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
I do yoga and meditation. I'm actually writing an 8 page paper this very moment (or... avoiding writing it) about meditation for stress relief.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
Somewhere tropical and beautiful right next to the water... nothing really to do but just hang out. 

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
I love where I live. I love the scenery and I love that even though I'm in the mountains, I'm only 2 hours from the beach. However, the weather likes to do this thing around this time where it's nearly snowing one day and scorching the next. It's seriously aggravating.

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not?
None that actually had any substance to the relationship. 

7. Favorite seasonal food (fall/winter)?
I'm not really into seasonal foods... but I like Chick-fil-a's peppermint bark milkshakes. mmmmm.

8. Knottie you'd most like to meet IRL?
I don't see how I could choose just one uppity bitch...

A few little ones. Like throwing salt over my shoulder if I spill it.

Dexter, the Office, the Soup.. *ahem* teen mom *cough* 

Mostly time wasters. Except Dexter. That's my story.

My BF's father is a Vietnam veteran with 2 purple hearts.  Also, a few of BF's friends at law school are veterans.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
We had a wondeful weekend, one of those times when you don't want it to end so you keep finding things to do.  So after brunch, we spontaneously decided not to go home as we had planned and headed out to the vineyards for the afternoon for wine tasting.  At the second vineyard, we bought two glasses of wine and a cheese wheel and went upstairs to one of the couches by a fireplace.  We laughed for hours, and at one point he asked me to dance (there was classical music playing).  So I took his hand, and looked in his eyes, and knew I had fallen hard.  I remember it like someone punched me in the gut - it was that sudden and that sure.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
Exercise!  I miss the days of having a punching bag in my basement.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
At least a month, in southeast Asia.  I want incredible food, beachfront villas or treetop cabins in the jungle, and lots of adventurous activites, like riding elephants through the jungle, or hiking to Buddhist temples, etc.

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
Favorite - no winter!
Least Favorite - the drivers.  Really, you think your drivers are bad?  They don't compare to SoFla.

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not?
Friendly, but not friends.  I'm on good terms with almost all my ex's, but I can't remember the last time I've spoken to any of them.  There's a few guys I made out with at one point or another who I'm still close friends with, though.

I don't think there was a specific moment that I "realized" it...  I guess the moment I stopped trying to pretend like I didn't have feelings for him and cried because I knew he was leaving for VA the next day and I was miserable at the idea of being without him for another week.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress? Lay in my bed and listen to music...  only because I might catch a case if I punch someone! lol

4. Describe your dream vacation. I'd LOVE to take a transatlantic cruise to Europe and visit Italy, Spain, France and Greece... with BF and a few friends. A trip like that should be shared with a bunch of people!

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)? I love NYC. The cultural diversity, the sights and sounds, the neverending variety of things to do. The only thing I hate about NYC is the traffic/congestion and specifcally the amount of people on 8th avenue! LOL

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not? I still speak to my ex from college. We were together for 4 years. He's happily married now. We speak every once in a while. Call each other on birthdays. We haven't seen each other in many years but we still care about each others well-being because we had a mutual breakup.  My ex from a few years ago has started contacting me and I've kept my distance from him because I know he's up to no good.

7. Favorite seasonal food (fall/winter)? I love soup/stew in the fall and winter...

8. Knottie you'd most like to meet IRL? All the ladies here are nice. GPB are in the same city so we could pass each other on the street and never know it! lol   Jacks is very interesting and extremely long winded! LOL I think we'd get along well! haha

9. Do you believe in/follow any superstitions? I'm not overly superstitious but I freak when someone opens an umbrella indoors... Honestly, I HATE umbrellas period! lol

10. What TV show(s) are on your DVR (or that you always make a point to watch)? Law & Order: SVU (I DVR it so BF & I can watch it when he comes home), Vampire Diaries (which I haven't watched all season), Jersey Shore (cuz I love me a good train wreck)

My maternal grandfather fought in WWII, and my paternal grandfather fought in the Korean War.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
We were at a New York Mets game, and he got into a conversation with the guy in front of us about stats and whatnot. He was just so passionate, and I found that to be incredible to listen to. I realized he was passionate about everything. We hadn't been dating long at all, but we had been friends for several months by that point.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
Yell, cry and hit something. Yes, I'm mature in that aspect.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
I would love to go to Tokyo (ever since I saw Lost in Translation). I would love to eat authentic Japanese food, see the Shinto shrines and experience Tokyo nightlife. BF has promised me we will eventually go.

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
I live in NYC, so there is ALWAYS something to do. It's quite impossible to be bored. Unfortunately, it's also quite expensive to do everything you want to do!

I'm on friendly terms with a couple of them.

7. Favorite seasonal food (fall/winter)?
Peppermint mocha lattes. I also live for the red holiday Starbucks cups. I might get one on my way to class today!

I bite my tongue, knock on wood, say God willing and usually make a wish at 11:11 (I always wish for the same thing).

We were talking on the phone and he was telling me about a really disturbing dream he had and how he couldn't sleep because of it...I realized when he was telling me this that I wanted to be the girl who woke up with him because he was having a bad dream and I wanted to be the girl who waited and watched him fall back asleep. I wanted to be there with him and for him. That's when I knew I was in love with him.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress? Running...listening to music...writing

The exes I am still friends with is because we were really good friends before we dated and none of them were a terrible break-up. The one or two I'm not really friends with is because they were just annoying and I needed them out of my life for a reason.

My father is a vet of the first Gulf War and my cousin is a vet of the second.  I have an aunt that served but was never in a warzone. 

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
We were having a fight and he thought we might break up.  We resolved the issue (it turns out it was just miscommunication) and while we were hugging it out he said, "I would have fought for you, and I will always fight for you."  After having exes so easily give up on our relationship and on me that meant the world to me.  I knew in that moment I loved him.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
I talk about it, I try to work through the stress logically (sometimes I can sometimes I can't).  When all else fails I cry.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
Tour of Europe.  Spending a few months exploring the countries and cultures there.  I'm fascinated with history so I'd love that.

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
Favorite:  I'm not afraid of being a victim of crime, it's quiet except for tractors clearing fields at 6 am on the odd occasion. 

Least favorite: It's at least a 15 minute drive to the nearest grocery store.  30 minutes to a mall/clothing store.  40 minutes away from BF.  Essentially I live in BFE.

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not?
No.  If they broke up with me I think staying friends makes it harder to get over.  Same thing if I broke up with them.  I tried with an ex, seven months later he told me he still hadn't gotten over me so I had to cut ties with him.

Anything with pumpkin in it.  I found some awesome Pumpkin Beer from Michigan Brewing Company that I'm going to buy to cheer myself up since it's my birthday.

I think I would say Shoes, Desert or Elle.

Nope, can't say that I do.

1. My grandfather was in WWII.  I know a handful of people in the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, but only as acquaintances.

2.  Our story's not very exciting.  We were both in college when we started dating, and he had gone away for a weekend after a few months of dating.  I can't really put words on it, but both of us realized how much we missed and cared about each other that weekend.  We both said I love you the next night.  Kind of cool, I think, that we both realized it at the same time.

3. Exercise works the best. Unfortunately, when I'm stressed I just want to curl up into a ball on the couch and eat ice cream.  However, if I can actually get myself up and moving, I always feel much better after a run.

4.  Australia or NZ with DH.  Beaches AND mountains.  Woot.

5.  You can find something to do at any time of the day or night.  You want Cambodian food at 3am? No problem! Plus, different neighborhoods of the city have their own quirky personalities, and this can change rapidly over just a few blocks. 

Least favorite is the cost of living *grumble* rent should not be $2k+ for a tiny-ass 1br apt to live in a neighborhood without fear of getting mugged. *grumble*

6. I only tried to stay friends with 1 ex.  But we've drifted apart and our lives have nothing in common anymore.  Annnnd there are so many things he does and says that make me say "WTF?".  He just doesn't think through the consequences of his actions, and I think something he does or says in a totally innocent fashion is going to be massively misconstrued on day and get him in trouble.  (Ex: Facebook friending the high school students you substitute teach, and starting conversations with them that include expletives and offers of private tutoring). 

7. Ooooh tough call. Love me some Apple Cinnamon Streudel Muffins that I make.  Also, butternut squash soup is a new discovery for me this year.

8.  There's a handful of knotties I'd like to meet IRL.  Mostly among the uppity bitches who've been around a while. 

9.  I knock on wood sometimes.  I've been getting really superstitious about my job hunt lately, and am trying not to count chickens before they hatch, just in case it "jinxes" me.  Totally irrational, I know.

10.  White Collar. Matthew Bomer = yum.  DH and I just started working our way through the Psych seasons.  (Gotta love instant play on netflix).

I had a hard time letting myself fall in love, but the point I realized there was no turning back was more like a slap in the face. We were together 3 months and BF just bought a motor cycle.  He was going on a ride to meet some friends on the west coast of FL when I got a call from his friends saying that he never made it there.  My heart sank and I realized that I didn't want to spend my life with anyone else.  Everything turned out fine and he was ok but I'll never forget that feeling.  5.5 years later I feel even more so that he is the one for me. 

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
A hot bath in the dark with candles. 

4. Describe your dream vacation.
 Bora Bora!  Or Tahiti.  I want to stay on those bungalows on the water!

FL- I love being close to everything, I HATE the traffic and rude people here.  It makes me so sad.  I've never met so many awful people as I have here.

When my Papa got really bad, like talking to walls bad, I took a night to cry it out.  He handled me perfectly.  He gave me space, and hugged me when I needed it.  And he was there with me when he passed.  I realized he'd stand beside me through anything.

Drink.  That's a bad thing, right?

Semster abroad in Germany or Italy.

Low crime, I've built a professional network.

Yes for my HS sweetheart.  I talked to him on FB last night. I haven't talked to him in a long time, and we took a second to basically say: "I'm happy, but part of me being happy is knowing that you're happy too."

Chili, and my Aunt's fudge and candies.

1. Do you personally know any veterans?
FI served 4 years in the Air Force.  He was stationed in Germany.  My grandfather served in WWII in Japan, one of my uncles was career Air Force and was stationed in Korea (hence why I now have a Korean aunt) Also, I believe quite a few guys from my highschool are in the Army.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
I don't remember the exact moment, but I remember getting up to the point of saying "I love you".  We used to say "I like you" then it went to "I really like you" then to "I more than like you" then FI was the first to actually say "I love you".  I remember waking up in the morning, he pulled me close, put his hands on either side of my face, kissed me, then looked right into my eyes and said "I love you" so confidently.  I knew right then that this would be the last first-time I'd say "I love you".

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
Be around FI.  He has a great way of calming me down.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
I want to go to Australia and dive the Great Barrier Reef

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
Favorite: the weather, I love the heat and hate the cold.  Also being able to get real Mexican food.
Least: right now, the economy and the fact that idiot voters approved a 1% sales tax increase.  9.3% is too damn much people, you can't help recover the economy if you keep pricing people out of spending money.

No, I really only have one actual ex and he's an idiot.

1. I know several people that are overseas right now; I also know some that have passed away.

2. I was trying to make him an amazing surprise dinner; spent 40 mins at the store and all that. I got home and went to let the dog out and when I bent down to pick up something I dislocated my left shoulder BADLY (again) I had to crawl inside and call 911. Mike was on his way to my house and when we got there and saw the ambulance/firefighters he was so freaked out. He took care of my dog and then came to the hospital to be with me. That was his first meeting with my mother and he handled it like a champ. :) I knew I loved him right after that.

3. Work out heavily or cry/scream in my car (sometimes its the best stress reliever I can find)

4. Tahiti next summer in a overwater bungalow for a week.

5. I like that we live in a quiet suburb and that everything I need is within 5 minutes of my house but I can still drive 30 mins to "get away from things". I hate this state overall - especially mt area. It's nothing but construction all the time and there's not a lot of "new" things to do.

6. I am only friends with one of my exes because we've had an extended on and off relationship for 6 years. He's one of the only person I know won't mince words with me and will say just exactly what he thinks. While he's an ass sometimes, I appreciate the honesty.

7. Pumpkin pie and apple cider for Fall. Egg Nog and christmas dinner for the winter.

Yes.

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO.
I knew before this, but the moment it really hit me was when he called me to ask if thought he should go into the Master's of the Ph.D. program.  I knew he wanted to do the Ph.D. but it would mean he'd be stuck across the country for at least 4 more years.  The fact that he was factoring me into to such a long-term decision meant a lot to me.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?

4. Describe your dream vacation.
3 months in Europe.  Mostly in the Alps (Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, Slovenia) and maybe some time on the coast and in the country (wine!).  I'd love to be able to just travel around and eat out all the time at all of the outdoor restaurants.  I loved just being able to sit outside drinking coffee and seeing the mountain views. It's nice to have a lot of time because you can really enjoy each area instead of rushing from city to city or landmark to landmark.

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
The weather is awesome but the people are really old.

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not?
Absolutely not.  He was crazy.

Jealous.  When FI was looking for a new job, he actually started looking in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area.  1. because we eventually want to move somewhere new and 2. so that we can actually dive locally with visibility more than 10ft and without having to wear a 7mm suit.

He also got several calls for jobs in Hawaii, but they were ridiculous, paid much less to do the same job he does here, yet cost of living is twice as much.

Strangely enough I made friends with Vietnam veterans, makes for awkward moments when they start talking about the war.

I realized I loved him when he was holding me in bed and he fell asleep and as the light from outside filtered through the window and on his sleeping face I felt that I could never be apart from him ever again.

Working out, whether it be running, boxing, swimming any physical activity to help me relieve the stress.

4. Describe your dream vacation.

A trip to Denmark or New Zealand where we can hike and go on adventures.  If any of you ladies are familiar with a show called Top Gear they did a trip from South Vietnam to North Vietnam on motor bikes I would like to do that too.

Fav: The ocean and beaches are right outside my doorstep.  Least fav: the damn traffic!

Nope I find it gets messy and at times awkward for all parties.  Better to move on especially if its a messy break up.  I had a mutual break up with an ex we tried staying friends, but it got strained and we drifted apart.

When the weather gets cold, I can eat all kinds of soups all the time.

I don't think there was an exact moment. Like Jason Mraz, when I fall in love, I take my time. There's no need to hurry while I'm making up my mind.

Sadly, I too often eat my stress. I'm trying to be better about working out, b/c that works WAY better. But it's a hard habit to break. Food is way too delicious and comforting!

Two guys in my law school section are veterans.  

2. Describe the moment you realized you were in love with your SO. 

It's hard to identify one moment.  There were lots of small moments.  I definitely knew that I loved him and felt safe with him 2 Christmases ago.  My mom and I had gotten into a HUGE fight on the night of Christmas.  FI was supposed to come to NY (from MA) the morning after Christmas to meet my extended family.  I tried to remedy the fight the next morning (when FI was supposed to make his drive down), and it only got worse.  My mother said some things that were completely and totally awful (even by MY standards) and unforgivable.  I ended up telling FI not to come to NY...that I would be coming back to MA.  

FI picked me up from the bus station and gave me a big hug.  I was a mess.  I talked to him about it, but he could see how hurt I was and did not probe.  I barely spoke for 3 or 4 days.  FI and his family distracted me and included me in all of their family activities to try to cheer me up.  He was just THERE for me, when I really needed him the most.  That's when I realized that this wasn't just college puppy love...that I was seriously IN LOVE with him and that I felt safe with him.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress? 

Sex, exercise, or a good cry.

4. Describe your dream vacation. 

I'd love to go to India and visit some Hindu temples.

I love Boston.  It's a beautiful city.  It's clean.  It's not claustrophobic feeling (like, IMO, NY).  The city itself has a spirit...people go NUTS over a sports team winning a world series.  It's just a very proud, patriotic, spirited place.  Also, as a whole, there are fewer morons around these parts.

The only downside is that it can snow for 6 months out of the year.  The winters are very cold, very snowy, and very windy.  The snow and salt ruin your shoes...so you have to wear ugly shoes in the winter.  No suede...

6. Have you stayed friends with your ex(s)? Why or why not? 

Um...I've stayed friendLY with some exes, but not friends.  Some of them were a big part of my life for so long that I like to check up and see how they/their families are.  However, I could never trust them again after the things they did to me.  And I'd never be friends with someone I couldn't trust.

PEPPERMINT MOCHAS AT STARBUCKS!!!!!  Sorry, I'm still excited about this.

When he was leaving for Ireland, I spent the weekend there and went with his parents to take him to the airport, and as he was walking away with his group that was going with him I teared up a little bit. I knew it was only going to be a week, but I was just so worried about him. Then the next day when their flight got delayed and he was stuck in the airport for over a day and he could only call a couple of times, and one of those times instead of asking for his mom or his dad, he asked to specifically talk to me. Besides the fact that I spent the entire weekend with his parents, and none of it ever felt awkward. I knew right then and there that I had to become part of that family.

3. What's the best way for you to relieve stress?
Anything sexual, sex with BF or if he isn't around my vibrator. I just feel much better after that.

4. Describe your dream vacation.
The BEACH. At an all inclusive resort. With my BF, anywhere with him is my dream come true.

I am three hours away from my hometown and family.And I am a big city kind of girl and now I live in a small town, so weird. Places are closed on Sunday and we have a Chili's, that is the only chain restaurant unless you want to drive 20-30 minutes to the next town.

We have spoked a couple of times since breaking up, but we are definitely not friends. I feel like it would make BF uncomfortable, because me and the ex lived together and were together for 2 and a half years. There is a lot of history there, and I don't want to revisit ANY of it.

CHILI during a good football game.

My late grandfather was in WWII, and quite a few of BFs family have served. His best friend is in Iraq right now.

I knew I was in love with BF when I started getting butterflies in my stomach every time I'd see him.

Zumba!

4. Describe your dream vacation.
It would definitely involve staying in a cabin surrounded by mountain ranges for an extended period of time.

5. Favorite thing and least favorite thing about where you currently live (city/part of the country)?
I love RI because of how small it is and the distance from the top to the borttom of the state. Sometimes I go to sleep hoping the winter season will miraculously dissapear (fall FTW), but I am perfectly content otherwise.

I'm not friends with any of my ex's, but if I saw one out in public I would be friendly.

Pumpkin! Anything pumpkin, at all.

I knock on wood and make a wish at 11:11 if I notice it. My mom puts butter on our nose (sibling + I) every birthday, for luck I'm assuming? She never gave me a straight answer. Weird..
