omy, I don't know anyone who would not go insane if they had to plan a wedding so fast. The fastest I know is a couple from BYU idaho- engaged after 3 months of dating and knowing each other... married in another 3 months. Thats 6 months of knowing each other. Which I know a lot of couples get married fast... but they are young and still in college... I think quick weddings are more easily accepted after graduation.

[QUOTE]Yup they do... also, any college with significantly more women then men do that... It's weird how guys think they can propose on like the 2nd date at these schools O.o ... and a lot of my friends who go to idaho get engaged pretty fast too. Not condoning getting engaged fast because when you know you know, but I once had a guy friend propose to a girl on first date (they had met on a dating sight on the internet) she shot him down HARD.

[QUOTE]Here in the south. A &M, Baylor, Rice, LSU etc etc. Ol' Miss. It's insanity.

At A&M they have a "ring dunk", which is where you put your class ring in a pitcher of beer and then chug said pitcher. The goal is to have two rings to dunk.

Someone let me out of TX.

I know what the ring dunk is, I did it - but I've never heard it's a goal to have two rings to dunk

There is nothing wrong with looking on the internet if it is soley browsing around out of boredom or whatever. If you are spending hours doing this or its a regular thing that is a different story though. I admit that after clicking on links from here to davids bridal that I looked around for a little bit. However, I didn't save any pictures, show them to anyone, discuss them at all or anything like that... and I sure as hell didn't even consider trying any on or buying anything, that would be insane.

As for colleges that are still like that... creepy!

We also have an "engagement bell" from 1880. If you ring it before you're engaged you are cursed with 10 years of singlehood.

But I also had to take classes in ironing and butter churning, so... you know.

The university I went to had some colleges within it that were like that. I definitely went to school where some girls were after a MRS degree with no career aspirations with the degree that they were actually there for. It was pretty sad. It was also with these types of girls that I ever got an upclose look at a bridal magazine for the first time (I had no interest in them, still don't really) and some of these couples would buy fake weddings bands so they could go test drive cars and try to act older than they actually were. I am not condoning this stuff whatsoever, but I also wouldn't have believed it until I saw it.

I have never heard of ring before spring. When I was in college (10 years ago) some jerk said something to me about an MRS degree (and I'd never heard of that either). You know, how dare I be a public school girl attending a private college? Yup, you got me. I'mma gonna snag me a rich man and never work a day in my life.

Then again, that jerk was on like year seven of undergrad with no degree in sight. Maybe he was just trying to find a rich lady so he wouldn't have to work.

And back to the original topic, I occasionally look at dresses because they're pretty. Mostly because the same site I like to browse for ao dais (Vietnamese dresses) also does knock off wedding gowns. I'm not picking out what I'll wear at some undetermined date in the future. I don't think it's any different than browsing vintage gowns I'm not going to buy either.

My cousin was after an MRS degree... failed, and now she's trying to find a job where there are rich men (she's working on Capital Hill, trying to pull a Jackie O - little known fact, JBKO was a college student interning in JFK's office when they met).

Haven't heard of "ring before spring", but from these gloriously backwards schools, I've heard girls are very protective of their virginity but will do everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) else. My friend who went to a southern school used to brag about how slutty the girls were, without actually 'doing it'.

I would say about 50% of my friends go to BYU-I. We call it BYU-I DO. 6 months actually isn't that bad for there I have friends that have done it faster. Its craziness but its surprises me how well a lot of them make it work. Have you heard about the ring ceremonies they have every week? I think those are wierd. My BFF goes there but refuses to date any guys from there because they are known for proposing after like 2 dates and she thinks its creepy

Ring before spring is a new one for me. MRS degree is a popular saying in SE Ga though, so I know that one!

As for the OP's question, a lot, I'd say most, of the girls I know IRL looked at dresses before they were engaged. It's idle curiousity, and it's fine. Don't fall in love with anything though. Styles change and are discontinued, and your opinion of what you like may change by the time you get engaged as well.

Oh. Em. Gee. If a guy proposed to me on a first or second date (or third or fourth for that matter), I'd be running for the hills. I'm such a committment-phobe though... when I was 15, I was dating a guy who said he loved me after two weeks. I starting avoiding him at school and broke up with him two weeks later. Things just should not move that quickly! Yikes.
