[QUOTE]In Response to Re: This is NOT the hill I want to die on... : Why do you have to give that up? M'boyfriend is a sommelier- so we have wine paired with dinner every night. It's very French- and good for the heart. And better for you then a coca cola.

    Nice! I wish I had a live-in sommelier. :)

I think what Sous was saying, though, is that someday when they start TTC she would stop drinking any alcohol.

Wow how did I miss so many people's posts last time I responded, lol...holy threadjack, Batman!

beth - Cigarettes is a bigger deal because it is more dangerous to his health. It is also harder to quit (for him, anyway).

Tonk - He does not battle depression regularly, just of late due to things that have happened in his life. He knows that I want him to quit eventually, which is why he has cut back so much since we started dating. He knows that it has to be done by the time we start a family and he agrees.

    Elle - Yes, exactly.

lunar - Yes, this is true. I am Portuguese, and that is a huge part of the culture as well. It isn't necessarily a terrible habit, nor do I NEED it, but I obviously can't do it when I'm pregnant, and I don't want to be tossing back a glass or two regularly when I have little kids, so I would cut back when that time comes.

Tonk - True, and see above for lunar. I have already started cutting back for dietary reasons, and I feel no different anyway, so I think it was just something that in my head seemed to relieve stress.

Hahaha, oh dear, I feel as though I may have misrepresented BF and myself as a pothead and an alcoholic. I'm not trying to quit a developed dependence or anything. I drink less than many other 26 years olds that I know. I do love a good glass of white wine, which is PACKED with sugar and carbs, so I have to nix it from the weekday regimen in order to get trim. I still embibe on weekends, however! And probably tonight because I am visiting ma-dukes and we are suckers for a nice chilled bottle of Mirassou Sauvignon Blanc.

By no means was I calling you a lush. I'm trying to cut back to just a few on the weekends to lose a few pounds as well. It's amazing how many calories are in alcohol!
