C is for Cookie!

Anyone here totally get excited and go broke when Girl Scout cookie season rolls along? I just ordered 8 boxes from my friend's daughter. No wonder why I don't feel like I'm losing weight.

Fun story: when I worked at a movie theater, one of the projectionist's daughters was a Girl Scout. Every year, he brought her order sheet to the theater and every year he did that she was the top seller in her troop. Five years in a row! We were devestated when he quit. We were all like, "BUT WHERE ARE WE GOING TO GET GIRL SCOUT COOKIES NOW?!"

What's your favorite GS cookie? I gotta go for Samoas (or, as some overly PC troops now call them, "Caramel de Lites". Ew).

OR if you don't order GS cookies, what's your favorite cookie in general?

OR, post some cookie recipes!

I need to find me some Girl Scouts! I'm sure someone at work has a daughter. Otherwise, I find them outside the grocery store.

I like the Caramel Delights. Funny story--the south bay bakery calls them Caramel Delights. The San Francisco bakery calls them Samoas. So here, it's just where you grew up. And I was a girl scout in the '80s, so it's not like it's a recent change.   =)

I also like the Samoas ice cream.

You're kidding! I always remember them as Samoas, but one year about 3 years ago, I was told that they were dropping the name Samoas because it was "offensive" and changing the name to "Caramel de Lites". Then the next year they changed it back to Samoas because people complained about the name change (or so I heard). I had no idea it went back that far!

Here they do a bake-off to raise money for an organization that's slipping my mind right now....

But restaurants in the town compete, making desserts.  The only rule is you have to use Girl Scout cookies.  You choose which one.
It's like a Girl Scout Iron Chef.

It was last night. :-(  I wanted to go, but it's $35 a person, $50 a couple.  Last year they had some AMAZING desserts.

Thin mints are my fav. Although carmel delights are a very close runner up.

The other night my BF told me he ordered some GS cookies, but I didn't ask what kind he got...Here is for hoping!

Tag-a-longs are my FAVORITE! I found some Keebler ones that taste exactly the same. I love Samoa's as well. I wish I knew some GS around here...but I'll just continue to go to the store and get these I guess.

Frozen thin mints, short bread, lemon ones and peanut patties.  Good thing I don't know any girl scout connections and I go to the market too late or early for them to be selling them at the entrance.

Oh, I love frozen thin mints.

When I was living across the country and was a broke graduate student studying for my master's exam, my mother mailed me 5 boxes of thin mints.  It was like she read my mind.

I did find that Safeway makes a cookie very similar to Caramel de Lites/Samoas. I can't remember what they're called, but they even come in a purple box. If you have a Safeway, check their cookie aisle. They're also way cheaper than Girl Scout cookies.

Mmmm. I used to love thin mints. But I would eat too many and get sick. Now I love tagalongs. I looove chocolate and peanut butter. I need to hang out at the mall and Walmart. That's where they usually are sold.

One time I ate 3 boxes of GS cookie over a weekend. Yes, THREE BOXES ALL BY MYSELF IN TWO DAYS. blerrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

I seriously canNOT have the things in my house.

So I'm with Emily on this one -- the best ones are the free ones at work. The social stigma of eating them all keeps my inner Cookie Monster from making an appearance. :)
