It doesn't bother me for her to say or write y'all. I say it, it just isn't anything I write or any of my southern friends write.

"Alright" supposed to be the tone i was writing to Mutley. If I was speaking the sentence would have been fast.

I wasn't attempting to police dialect or slang.

I used to have a coworker who would use these expressions all the time.  He would also use stuffy expressions like "heretofore"  and "not withstanding" frequently, but he used them incorrectly more often than not.

I'm surprised I didn't end every day with a bruised forehead from all the headdesking.

I type "y'all" all the time, and in real sentences to boot!

Truly, did not mean to offend anyone. Promise.

Again, no problem with the word or the use of it in message board writing. It was just an observation in response to Paint that most southerners I know don't write out the word. Yeesh.

I say and type 'y'all.' Frequently.  I used to type it ya'll until someone told me to change it here.

And I used 'alot' sometimes by accident.  oops.

My annoyances are with: your, you're; there, their, they're.  <---Makes me want to punch babies.

All of the offenses wrkn mentioned drive me nuts. I especially hate then/ than and two/to/too. I see them mixed up on facebook all the time and it makes me question there (jk) former English teacher's ability to teach. Sometimes I think I take it too seriously.

No, I'd never take it to serious. I'd never trust my grammar skillz to someone whose first name is an adjective.
