    Thanks for coming and backing me up.  I was so flabbergasted by her last post to me I couldn't take it anymore.  I also think she needed to hear from older girls who have been through that.  Thanks Wirkn for sharing your story!

    Bowlchick- I posted the link in my first post.  I think it is halfway down the page.

    I was totally serious.  I just clicked that link, and I have to say, I feel bad for her lady parts.  Also, can you imagine how much laundry she has to do?!?  And how much all of that costs?!?

    [QUOTE]Okay, if you go back and read my response, don't bite my head off! I wanted to give her the ministry perspective and it's the exact response I would have given one of my teens if they had come to me saying all of this. I highly doubt her parents are on board here as much as she thinks they are. If she's as confident as she says she is, especially in God's plan (which umm... sorry, but your interpretation of God's plan can be very off some times, especially when you're 14), then her parents will hopefully knock some sense into her. Most parents that support and promote courting don't do so until the daughter is in her early to mid 20's. Other wise she's not allowed to date.  Okay, rant finished, I think. This has irked me all night since I read it on my fire and couldn't respond. You guys gave some great advice and I hope she reads it all...

    I'm actually really curious about this courting thing.  Could you explain a little more about it?  The way it sounds, I don't know if I think it's very practical.  I learned so much from my past relationships, and I don't know if I'd feel comfortable making a committment without that experience.  (Well, I know I'd FEEL comfortable, but I also know I'd be super dumb for it.)

    Quiverfull. It's from Psalms:

    Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:
    and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
    As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;
    so are children of the youth.
    Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:
    they shall not be ashamed,
    but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

    Woooo.

    Are you serious?! I've never met anyone who didn't know who the Duggars were (although my hometown slightly worships them and I think that's sad soo...yeah). Anyways, they have a show on TLC called 20 kids and counting. I think they are some sort of Christian Fundamentalists.

    If you aren't serious, then I feel dumb for not getting the sarcasm and you may all feel free to mock me :)

    No offense, but what really stuck out to me where the words "I'm a Christian" and then the other stuff about her boyfriend being in the ministry. Brought back dreadful memories of growing up in my parents church. Everywhere I looked I'd see 17-19 year old girls clamoring to get married because 1) they thought if they weren't married by 25 something was utterly wrong with them and 2) they wanted to have sex and not have the stigma of doing it out of wedlock attached to them. It's sad because I saw so many of those girls get married and within 6 months to a year they were either 1) pregnant and miserable, 2) cheating on their husbands because they weren't happy or 3) just plain miserable. I was so happy I got out and experienced life without getting sucked into that mentality.
