I don't have an engagement ring. I wear a promise ring that was part of a set that I got for me and FI on our 2 year anniversary. FI says he will get me an engagement ring, but I understand he can't afford to spend a lot of money on a piece of jewelry. I don't care how much it costs, whether it's real or not- to me it is just symbolic. It would be nice to have an official "engagement ring" to make the engagement feel official, but regardless of whether that happens or not, we're still getting married in less than a year. The wedding band is all that really matters.
