Unwanted guests

How do you deal with people who are mad becuase they didn't get invited to the wedding. An old friend of mine from high school who I have not talked to in years called me and left a message, demanding to know why she did not recieve an invitation. How do you deal with this? I have no idea what to do.

You don't HAVE to invite anyone that you don't want to invite, and I personally don't think that, in this situation, you owe this person an explanation as to why they aren't invited. If you haven't spoken in years, therein lies the answer to her question. If you do want to give her an explanation, you could say something like, "I am so sorry that we were not able to extend an invitation to you, but we are only inviting our closest family and friends.", or something to that effect.

I had so many people texting me the week before saying..."was my inivite lost? I didn't get invited."....It put me an awkward spot because they weren't. They haven't bothered communicating with me or tried to see me in years. I'd just ignore it or politely say,"we are having only our close family and friends at our ceremony/reception." No need to explain.
