I don't mean to make this any worse, but it is interesting to me that just cuz she is from a small town, is that why she does not know any better? I mean we are a generation of change, we are a generation of people doing what they want to do. 40 years ago, not changing your last name was unheard of. But then again, that is progress..I dont think people should down on anyone who chooses or doesnt choose to change thier last name...

It's ok I like your question(: It's not that I don't know any better that demeans me in a way. I It's not that I am unaware of chages, it's that they don't affect my opinoin or the opinion of others. While it is a generation of change I don't want to change and many of the other women I know don't either. And the whole small town part is because here almost everyone is related or they grew up together so their veiws are all similar When you go to a big city there are tons of differences becuase they have all kinds of different backgrounds but when you and your family are from the same place everything seems to be similar. That is what I ment by a small town.
