I got engaged on easter and we decided on an oct 2013 wedding. I thought it would be a good idea to start looking at places to figure out where we wanted to get married/have the reception. and we found it! Well ever since then we have been basically planning everything and I was starting to feel overwhelmed, I had to sit back and I realized omg I have over a year to get everything planned what am I doing stressing about this. I even went and tried on dresses basically just to get an idea of what style I like best and fell in love with the most amazing dress I've ever seen! It has everything I've ever wanted on a dress, the price is even great. Would it be way to early to at least put a down payment on my dress but not order it right away or has anyone else done this before or is doing it? Is it too early to start talking to bakers and ordering stuff for the wedding?

</div><div>We were married a week and a half ago and we booked all of our big vendors in either April/May/June the year before. Popular venues and vendors will book at least a year out, so if you have your heart set on something, I'd go ahead and make the call. We had several vendors turn us down because they were already booked at a year out. </div><div>
</div><div>Depending on the dress designer, dresses can take up to 6-9 months to come in, and then you need to allow time for alterations before you have any bridals done prior to your wedding. The word of caution here is that if you DO buy your dress now, you need to stop looking at dresses. It's a lot easier said than done sometimes, but if you keep looking, you may think you regret your dress choice later on. That being said, I bought my dress 11 months before our wedding.
