I don't post much, but lurk like crazy and now have a situation that I don't know how to handle.
My wedding is this Sunday.
I purchased my wedding dress in November. When I went to pick up my dress the first time, it was wrinkled. The salon told me if I wanted a non-wrinkled dress I'd have to pay $70 for them to iron and steam it. I fought them tooh and nail, but in the end had to give up and hand over my credit card.
I went to pick it up from the steaming on Friday. It was stained. On the back of the dress there are 3-4 black streaks approx 2inches long and about the thickness of a sharpie. On the top near where the zipper is, there's also just dirt/stains all over the back. The person tried to tell me that this was "part of the fabric". Finally they agreed to take the dress back and clean it. These stains were not there when I first got my dress in. They are not part of the fabric.
My concern is what to do if I go Thursday and the stains are still there. They kept insisting to me that these stains were part of the fabric and they may not come out because silk "naturally has these types of marks". I spoke to someone in fashion who told me this is absolutely not true. One the one hand, the dress is still wearable. If I took it home last week as it was, it wouldn't be super noticable. However when I spend this much this much money on something it should not have black stains on it.
The question is, do I just accept it and wear my stained dress, or should I refuse to take it, find a new dress in the few remaining days (the cousin who works in fashion has offered to help me find something), and possibly take the dress salon to small claims court after the wedding?
