Timeline

Hey Ladies,How long is a dress available? I have two years left until my date and I have found a dress I really like. If I wait too long will it disappear and if I wait long enough any possibility of it going on sale? Ive had my eye on it for some time and it is out of my range so I am kinda hoping I can catch it. Advice?

Re: Timeline

  • It totally depends on the designer and the style.  Lots of times stores will sell their samples in sample sales of dresses that are older styles.  But many times the dress is still availbale for order from a store that carries that designer.  The store simply wanted to make room for new samples.Sometimes though dresses are discontinued.  This happened to a dress I really liked.  It was a newer style but it had a unique organza/lace at the bottom.  The store called the designer to make sure it really was discontinued and they said they could no longer get that material so the style was discontinued.  In that case you probably won't be aware ahead of time and will then need to find a sample to buy and hope that stores haven't sold that sample yet and that it's in a size you can wear/alter to wear.  I don't know if that really helps.  If you know for sure this is the dress you're best keeping an eye on it or having the salon keep an eye on it (maybe with a deposit).  But it is two years to the date so you may change you mind.  It would be ideal if a deposit could be changed to another dress if you do.  GL!
  • Well I know I definitely don't want it to disappear! I am so in love with this dress. I found it online and even though it was more expensive than I had planned my mom convinced me I wouldn't be happy unless I tried it on and its beautiful! I will try to watch sales and talk to the bridal stores that have it. Thanks Ladies!
