discount on dress?

I am planning to do some of my dress shopping at shops where you buy off-the-rack -- no ordering -- are there ways, such as offering to pay cash, that I can get a discount?Should I call the stores beforehand and ask about their discount policies?Thanks!

Dress shops that sell off the rack instead of ordering are not likely to give you a discount. You are better off going to a bridal salon and asking if they will discount the sample off the rack. If it's a discontinued style or last year's sample, they will probably give you a discount.
