Maggie Sottero

I've been looking at wedding gowns online, trying to find designers that I like, before I go start trying on dresses. I really love a lot of Maggie Sottero designs. So, I was wondering if anyone had a Maggie Sottero dress, and if so, how satisfied were you with it? Also, any other information on Maggie dresses you would like to share would be very appreciated. At the moment, I'm in love with this dress -http://tinyurl.com/ydkvc3x

that dress is really beautiful! I had a maggie sottero dress (joceyln). i LOVED it! it was fantastic quality (my photographer had is climbing over fences, etc and it held up great!) and it was beautiful, and inexpensive!

I bought the Maggie Sottero "Shirley". I can not say enough great things about my dress, I absolutely love it. I almost bought the Karena Royale (the Karena without the halter) but the seamstress pointed out that it is incredibly hard to walk in that dress because its very tight in the knees. If you are interested in purchasing the Karena, I believe you will have to do it "blind" like I did... without trying it on. I called around to try to find someone who had either dress in stock and everyone told me that they didn't order Maggie Lace dresses because they had other designers who offered similar styles cheaper. I have tried on those "cheaper" gowns and the quality is just not there.Whatever you decide, the Karena is a beautiful gown!!!!http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii187/chelstin09/small%20dress/IMGP7050.jpg

The karena royal is not "incredibly hard to walk in"... not sure what your seamstress was smoking.  I ordered that dress and walked around in it a great deal before I bought it and had zero problems with it.  It's super comfy and easy to walk in (and dance in, I tried that too, lol)

I can't see the pic, because I can't figure out how with those tinyurl pics! haha....but if it's Karena, I did try that on and loved it. The second store I went to had it, so I tried a bunch of new dresses and by the time I got back to it, I didn't like it as much. It would have been perfect with a lot of changes, but I didn't want to have to do all that.

I have Maggies "Ireland" and I love it, PIB under attire. I dont have a pic of me in it yet though.

I have a Rio by Maggie.  PIB.  I'm incredibly happy with it.  I fell in love with the gown and though it was an older design, I called every bridal store around (I'm in Arkansas...I was calling Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, MIssouri...) to find a store that had one I could try on.  I found one in my state that had one!  Call around and ask for your dress and someone will have it to try on.Maggies are great because a lot of them have corset backs so the size is a little adjustable and you will save on alteration costs. Her dresses weren't super heavy like other brands I had tried. Also, if the bridal store is like the one I went to, they conceal dress brands and numbers from you so you can't write down dress info and go somewhere else....but Maggie's have "Maggie Sottero" printed on the hanger straps, so you know if you are putting on a Maggie.

I'll be wearing "Brittanya Lynette" in April. I tried on a few Maggie gowns (Coco, Jorie Ann and Channing were some other styles I considered buying) and I liked how clean-cut and stylish they were. I tried on a few gowns by other designers and some of them just looked dowdy on me. I wanted a classy, sophisticated dress that won't look horribly dated in 5 years, but I also wanted something that had some style and current trendiness to it. The Maggies that I tried on all seemed to have that factor, which I liked. Someone on this board once called Maggies the "Coach [brand] of wedding dresses," which I think is a fair comparison. They're not horribly expensive but they're still regarded as a somewhat upscale designer.

I read once that Maggie Sottero takes January off from work.  So if you order within that time frame, your dress might be delayed a month.  Is that true?

I totally tired on that dress! My issue with it was that the lace was *very* irritating on the halter-- my skin was getting red just in the 10 minutes or so I had it on. But it's very pretty

In terms of finding the dress at a store nearby you can call Maggie Sottero corporate and they can tell you if the dress was ordered anywhere in the state, doesn't guarantee that they still have it but it narrows it down. One of the dress I wanted was only ordered at 1 store in the 3 states I was looking in, made an appointment to try it on next week!

I ordered Karena Royale for my wedding and can't wait to get it in. I love all the lace, the bow and the slimmer fit!

I love that dress!  I tried it on in a store, but the low sweet heart neckline didn't work for my large chest.  I ended up with the "Jorie" because I felt more comfortable in it and didn't feel like I was falling out of it.  I can't wait for my dress to come in!!As far as lace gowns to try on goes, I found that plenty of stores carried Maggie's lace gowns to try on.  I didn't have any problems having many to choose from!  I've only heard great things about Maggie!

Sunkissed - I just ordered the MS Mirabella a week ago.  I'm completely in love with it!  So while mine hasn't come in, I'm very pleased with the dress I tried on in the store.  Like others said, her dresses seem to be good quality yet more affordable.  I also like the corset because as PPs said, there are typically less alterations with it.  Also, you can gain or lose a little, and it won't make much difference.kjane - Yes, this is true from what the store I ordered my dress from said.  A lot of the MS dresses are made in China supposedly.  Apparently about 2 weeks are taken off in December, and then since Chinese New Year is in January, they are shut down for most of that month.  I didn't see when your wedding is, but if you are buying a MS dress, I would keep this schedule in your mind.  HTH!

I'm going with a Midgley Sottero.  Maggies are great and yes it is true they take roughly a month off in January or at least that's what the bridal salon told me.
