Need opinions on dress changes

In brief: My Fi's friend decided to copy everything from our May wedding into their wedding yesterday, down to my gown (yes, I had shown her pics of the gown after I bought it and before she bought hers, BIG MISTAKE). I have been considering makins some changes to my dress before this but now have even more incentive. My big question: could a corset back be added to this dress without interfering with the look of the beading at the waist? I am also going to remove the train, was never a big fan of trains anyway and really did not like how it looked on the dress on her. I absolutely love this dress but really want to do somethings to make it more "mine". Thank you very much! http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?langId=-1&catalogId=10051&storeId=10052&catentryId=1000177

Re: Need opinions on dress changes

  • If you add a corset you will lose the beading on the back (which I think would be a shame). I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal that she bought the same dress as you. It's annoying and a little juvenile on her part but it's not that big of a deal. I'm sure the dress will look completely different on you then it will on her. Just don't show her your accessories and take off the train.

  • I agree - it's annoying and rude, but I don't think you should change your dress because of it. You chose it first and should get to wear it as is. Brides can look so different even in the same dress, and only you will be the bride at your wedding. I think it'd be a shame to put in a corset back personally. Good luck!
  • If you're going to make changes to your dress, do it because you want to, not bc a friend decided to not display any originality.  Personally, I think switching to a corset would probably interrupt the beading.  Also, it might look a little odd, with the pleating, and the fact that the zipper goes up so high on the back.I'm not a big fan of trains, either- I'm considering making mine shorter as well.  That I definitely think you can do with this dress. GL!
  • Hmm, if you do want to change, maybe add some beading that matches the waist at the bottom after you cut off the train.Otherwise, ask if you can borrow her dress! LOL save some money in the end.
