Went dress shopping for the first time today!

Hey! I haven't posted much, but I have been reading since I got engaged about a month ago. I went dress shopping today at Stardust in Dallas, which was great, but I am sooo overwhelmed! Is this normal?? I didn't find "the one", but I think I have a little bit better of an idea of what I want. I am wondering, the gown that I'm in love with is the Demi by Enzoani. Does anyone know how I could find a picture of an actual person in it? They don't carryEnzoani anywhere in Dallas, which is weird. I am going back home to Kansas City for Thanksgiving, where I found a place that hopefully I can find time to put it on. I have already looked on preowned dress sites, etc, but I want to see what it looks like on a real person.

Can't help you with the picture... but I've been shopping three times... and every time feels overwhelming to me... I get nervous even before I go in the store.

I found my dress at LuLus in Dallas. My suggestion would be to take one person with you and have a glass of wine before you go.  And don't buy until you're sure.

Hahaha I like the glass of wine suggestion. I went with my parents today, because they were in town from KC for the weekend. I am planning on going with a couple of my girlfriends on the next few weekends. I have 11 months til the big day, so I'm not in a huge hurry, but I don't want to be rushed at the last minute because I feel like my dress is the most important thing about the wedding. (don't tell my fiancee that!) LOL

I felt overwhelmed at first, too. What helped me was to mentally note what I liked and disliked about each dress (or have your companions write it down if you prefer). One I figured out what was working for me, it was easier to tell the saleswoman, "I'm looking for a dress with XYZ."For me, the first dress I seriously considered (moreso than a "This is pretty" dress) had a ribbon under the bustline that flattered me. I tried on dresses with that ribbon that were all lace, and from there figured that lace wasn't working on me. I tried on dresses with lots of details on the skirt and didn't like that. So I found a dress with the ribbon, no lace and very little skirt detail. It's all a process of elimination. Be very vocal to the fitting attendant about what you like and don't like about each dress, and then she can bring you dresses that encompass things you DO like. Like putting together a puzzle.

Demi is actually pictured on theknot.com under Enzoani. Are you meaning you want to see it on a real bride, not a model? As for dress shopping, I used to work as a bridal consultant and I've found that every bride is different. Some put on a dress and go "THIS IS IT!" and for others it takes more time to find the one that works. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just enjoy the experience and try not to be overwhelmed. :-)also, I suggest making sure that the store in KC actually has the gown you're wanting to try. Just because they carry Enzoani, doesn't mean they have the Demi gown. If they don't have it, they can typically "borrow in" a sample gown from the designer. Just a little info for ya! Good luck!

I'm assuming Enzoani has a store locator on their website.  Look up the stores that do carry Enzoani by KC, then call and ask if they carry the dress you're looking for.  You'll save yourself a lot of time, since you want to try on a specific dress.  I quickly searched for some pics of everyday brides in the dress, but I didn't find any.  GL!

Yes - dress shopping can be overwhelming - but can be fun too! Let the consultant pick a couple for you as well. She can probably take one look at you and know what style would be most flattering! also - make sure you try on the actual dress you are in love with before buying it. You may love it on-line but hate it on you. I know so many people (including myself) that got a dress totally different than they initially pictured. I would have never guessed I would have gotten the dress I did - but I LOVED it the second I tried it on! Good luck! Have fun! And I second the glass of wine! :) kelly

Thanks guys! I called the store in Kansas city, and I'm going to make an appointment to try on that dress during Thanksgiving weekend when I am home. I hope I love it as much as i do online!
