Flowergirl Dresses

So I know that there are no rules to this, but I was wondering how you pick FG dresses. Is it the colors of your wedding or is it the style of your wedding dress or can it just be a cute little girl's dress? How did you ladies pick for your FG's?TIA! I can't believe I have been wasting brain space worrying about this!  :)

I chose a flower girl dress that will look great on my niece. I have a light gold dress so I got her an ivory dress. I actually pick it up tomorrow! The style of her dress is very different than my dress & the bridesmaid's dresses but it is exactly what I want for her! It's very poofy & looks like a tutu. Not sure if I'm explaining it very well. But she will be 23 months at my wedding & she looks like an angel in this dress!!!! It doesn't matter to me if she matches everyone else.

I think traditionally the FG dress is white/ivory to match the Bride's dress. But I wanted my FG to match the BMs dresses so what I did was find a dress that was the same color as my BMs but the same style as mine, so she got the of the best of both worlds! Pics in bio of my dress, BMs dresses & FG dress, HTH :)

I would just start looking around until you find one that you like. Then find out what colors it comes in. For me, I just picked out a fabric and had my mom make them. Some girls get white dresses, but I don't like that because I feel like I am dressing them up to be little brides.

I wanted a bright pink/fushia dress for my flower girl, so I just started looking on line for that.  I found a website called www.mygirldress.com that had a ton of colored dresses, I sent it to my friend (the flowergirl's mom) and she picked out the one she liked best.  It happened to be my favorite one as well, so she ordered it.  It just came in and is beautiful!  Picture in my bio.

I'm letting her pick out her own for the most part.  Only restriction is it has to be ivory, gold, or pink!

I just found something cute that matched our wedding colorsI didn't like the ones that look like "mini bride" dresses. Those creep me out a little, I don't need a mini me!

I picked my FG dress to compliment my flower girl, not me nor bridal party. I chose to dress her in what would look good on her first then I went with what I wanted to see her in. I also made fabric and dressmaker qualities a huge decision maker in purchasing her dress....you get what you pay for.

Thanks for all the input!!! I think I am going to find one that works for our FG instead of going with matching colors to the bridal party. Our BM's are in navy and all the affordable navy FG dresses look cheap and a bit tacky. And def don't want to dress her as a mini me...creepy! Thanks again ladies!

I have decided to put my flower girls in my wedding colors. My FMIL is very talanted in making dresses so she is going to get the fabric of my colors from the bridal shop and make the FGs dresses opposite of the BMs. The BMs will be in black dresses with a soft pink sashes and the FGs will be in soft pink dresses with black sashes. Its just an ideal if your using multiple colors.(not including white as a second color) I decided to do that because I have always heard the brided is the only one who is supposed to wear white.
