Dress storage

I bought my dress today, 11 1/2 months before my wedding (it was a sample; it's got a corset back and it was on the tight side, so as long as I either maintain my weight or keep losing at the pace I am, it'll still fit for the wedding).  I share a small 1 bedroom apartment with my FI.  The only local friends/family are his family, who are being less than supportive right now.  FI will see the dress (and me in it) when he gets home - I have to take a picture to show my mother and MOH, and see above re: local friends and family.  It's too darned hard to get into the dress alone!  I have a garment bag that zips and a plastic bag to cover the dress inside the garment bag.

How do I store the dress until the wedding?

I'd take it out of the plastic and store it inside the garment bag. If it's lightweight, it can be hung in a closet. If it's  heavy and could stretch out over time, I'd lay it flat under your bed. Take it out of the garment bag every so often to air it out.

It's heavy-ish.  I carried it for a mile without major problems, but it's not like it's three layers of satin with a cathedral train.  How often is "every so often" to air it out?  Monthly?  Bimonthly?

We just got an under-bed storange bin.  This may be how we use it.

Eh, I'd say monthly just to be safe. I'd put it under the bed. I'm also from Boston and know how tough it can be to find closet space!
