I don't think I want my dress...can I get out of it??

So I ordered my gown in June, and I am reallly doubting my choice.  Am I obligated to pay for the entire thing, even if I don't take it??  I've already put down a bit less than half to order it, and I'll be honest, I didn't read the agreement I signed so I don't know if I have to pay for the whole thing or not.

Oh, and my wedding is October 9th.  Am I stuck?

I would call the store and ask. You should be prepared to pay for all of the dress, I think most places are like that.

I hate to say it, but I think you might be stuck. Depending on the store/designer of course, most require the dress to paid in full before it is made for you and shipped. The store might have paid for the dress in full for you, and you are now obligated to pay them back. This isn't always the case, but it's the route I took. The final balance was due by the first fitting.
If you do choose to go with a different dress, I doubt there's anyway you could get your money back - especially if the dress has already been made and has arrived.
Regardless, most wedding dresses as they are made for you are "nonrefundable." It was very clear in the contract I signed (even highlighted). You would need to speak with your store to find out if there is any wiggle room.

What made you change your mind?

The other issue is that if you haven't purchased a replacement dress yet you may be pushing it to get one in time for your wedding.

Ok...seems like I got the message.  I was so sure at the time, but when time lapses, and I started to think about some of the features of the dress...well...second thought.

The dress is not due in until September 21, so there will not be a whole lot of time for alterations, but they promised it would be done and perfect.  Got to suck this one up, I guess.  It's my second wedding, so the dress didn't start out to be a big deal.  Now it is.

CMGr, I've bought homes, cars, second homes, perused divorce papers with a fine tooth comb etc...so reading contracts is not something I'm unfamiliair with.  The dress thing didn't seem like a big deal at the time.  And no, I didn't learn anything for "next time" because there will BE no next time!  Not with a wedding dress anyway.

Call the store and tell them your having second thoughts on the dress maybe if your willing to spend more money on another dress they will let you and put your original dress in their stock just a thought.  If you don't ask you will never know.
