Dress Regret

Ahhh! So I put in an order for one dress and then the other day I was going through some pics one of the BMs took and fell in love with a different dress! They're not expensive so I'm not going into the financial part of it and I'm not going to post any pics but I just wanted to know if any one else has gone through this at all?? So stressed!

Re: Dress Regret

  • Um yeah.  Only because I had my first fitting last week and the dress is ill fitting on top.  The chest area is too high!  Even the lady kept trying to pull it down.  I don't know how the hell they are going to fix it.  She tried to assure me that once she has taken it in it will sit right.  I don't know how taking something in will add length in the upper torso.  The dress has almost cap sleeves so it's not like I can pull the dress down.  Plus...it is too long.  They took my measurements for goodness sake in same height shoes I was wearing!  I also do not remember the sample having a train which is one of the other reasons I choose the dress.  Seriously, if they can't fix it, I refuse to wear a dress that doesn't fix perfectly for my wedding and will demand my deposit back because it's not my mistake.
  • Stop looking at dresses!  Once you choose a dress, ban yourself from looking at dresses.  Be harsh - no Say Yes to the Dress, no 4 Weddings.

Stick with the dress you have - remind yoruself of how good you felt in it and how excited you will be to do your fittings.
  • I've felt the same.  I ended up getting a dress I kind of liked and then I kept regretting it.  I spent a little bit more than I intended on spending and that's caused some issues with my dress.  But you need to stop looking at other dresses.  Try the dress on again or go try on the sample you tried on and remember why you bought it in the first place.  No matter how much I wasn't sure about my dress, the fact that it was the lightest (weight-wise) dress that I tried on was the part that kept me from selling it and finding another.  It also works for July even though I bought it at the time for a December wedding.

I had to do this. For about a month or two after I chose my dress, I couldn't watch any wedding shows. I was afraid I'd see something I liked better. Plus, for the first two weeks, I would look at pictures of my dress every day. Then once or twice a week after that.
  • Like the PP said, stop looking at other dresses. You chose your dress for a reason. you felt good in it.

I settled on my dress, i mean i like it don't get me wrong but it's not what i reeeeally wanted. To top it off I saw the one really wanted the other day on sale for less then what i paid for my current dress...grrr
  • I had dress regret two times! totally normal. I went with my dream dress in the end

  • I bought my dress about a year ago because the price was right. Since then I've grown to hate it. In addition, I've lost so much weight that the alterations to get it to fit make the price point way less attractive.

Thanks for the support and words of encouragement! It's not that I was really looking at other dresses, it's that I was going through my pictures on my camera and it came up. I think I will go and try the dress on again (the one I bought) and just remind myself of what I liked about it.

    Thanks!!!
