Sophia Tolli's Claire in White

I really like Claire by Sophia Tolli but it is only available to try on in gold.  I contacted the designer for a picture in white and was told that it was never photographed in white.  I really wanted a white dress.

The shop told me to just order it in white after trying to visualize it.

Any advice?

Re: Sophia Tolli's Claire in White

  • My dress was from David's Bridal and the samples were all white with red detail.  The red came in a variety of colors to match the BM dresses.  I wanted a white dress also.  Instead of ordering white/red, I ordered white/white without being able to see it ahead of time.  I ended up being very happy with it.  If you like the fit and detailing of the dress (regardless of color) and you know that you like white on yourself after trying on other dresses, I would think that you would be just fine.

Can you maybe google images the designer, style, and color of the dress to see if you can find a real bride (not a model) wearing the dress?  That may help you too.

  • Now, if you could only try on the white and wanted to buy the Gold, I'd be worried, because "gold" comes in a million shades, and it'd be hard to know if the one your dress came in was a flattering shade for you.

If you've tried on white dresses, and know you like white and it suits you, then I think you're ok ordering your dress in the white.

Just had a look and that dress is gorgeous... elegant and soft and romantic... Go for it!

I wore this dress in diamond white (sort of between ivory and white - but more white) - you can see my photos at www.jmrbmr.com - just go to the wedding albums.

I loved the dress SO much, it was my favorite part of the wedding!!!

  • OMG!!!  Bath-You just made my whole year of looking at these dresses and wondering what it would be like in white!!!!

As the only bride that I have found to wear it-did you like it?  could you dance?  any regrets?

    BTW-Beautiful pics!

  • I really like it in gold but always had my heart set on a white dress.  So I was torn on whether it would still appeal to me in white as much as it did in gold.  Granted the gold is light enough to not really be a non-wedding color IMO.

What shoes did you guys wear?  The shoes that I like are Pink by Paradox's Tease in bright blue but this is pretty extreme for such an elegant dress. Maybe?

I tried Claire on with a crinoline and loved the added poofiness too.

  • Yeah, I had my heart set on white too, but it really washed me out and this color worked well with my skin tone.  I too wanted to wear blue shoes, but feel in love with a pair from Bakers and they didn't have blue so I went with Red!!  Love them.  here is a pic!

  • Sorry, I haven't checked back on this post in awhile - but I LOVED the dress so much and have absolutely no regrets.  I am still getting compliments on it a year later.  I am normally a very plain person as far as fashion, so I was surprised when I fell in love with a fancier dress.  But I felt like a princess and I wouldn't change a thing!

My biggest concern was the bustle for the reception because they couldn't really show me what it would look like.  It does take a while to bustle because they do a "French bustle" and I had like 20 tie things or something!  It took about 15 minutes to do up.  But it looked great and I was very happy with how they did it. Dancing wasn't a problem either!
