passed down wedding band

So here's the situation... my parents divorced YEARS ago (when I was 3 or 4) I have the best relationship with my dad a girl can have, and a pretty good one with my mom too (however THEY have a horrible relationship can't even be in the same room).  My mom offered to give us my dads wedding band for my FH.
So here's my question- do you think it's bad luck to have a band from a divorce?
is it a bad ju-ju of sorts?

Re: passed down wedding band

  • You should ask your FI how he feels about it. I personally wouldn't want to give my FI something from a relationship that didn't work out, but if you're cool with it and your dad an FI are, then go for it!

  • If he likes the band, put it in a bowl of salt for 3 days and nights, and this will clense the ring and remove all the ju ju. :)

But really, I'd only do it if he really likes the band, and does not much care about this sort of thing.
  • Yeah, you should ask your FI.

  • he was kinda like, do you think  it's a good idea?

Yeah, in that case, I'd pass. Save it for if you have kids, and you can one day give one of them their grandfather's ring, which has more meaning than getting your FIL's ring.

Let your fi choose something fresh that speaks to him.
  • I say bad karma.  My parents are divorce, I have both wedding rings and the engagment ring.  Not using any aspect of them for my wedding.

  • ha ha! Floozy pearls!! :) LOVE it!
  • Why dont you take it to a jeweler and have it redone in to A NEW ring>? Thats what we are doing with the rings I got from my parents (diamonds were from my grandmother) and a ring from my great grandmother.. Melt it all done and picking something of my taste.
