FISHY dress smell

I am very close to buying a Maggie Sottero from a reputable bridal salon in town but it has a weird fishy smell in the armpit area but inside the dress and NOT outside. Do you think I could spray febreeze on the inside of the gown where it smells?? I'm just so confused as to why a sottero would smell this way, it's pretty good quality.  What have you all done to get rid of the smell?

Re: FISHY dress smell

  • Would you be buying the sample and getting that exact dress, or ordering one? If you're ordering one, it's no problem because I doubt it has anything to do with it being a Sottero and everything to do with whoever else tried the dress on in the store. If you are buying the sample, I'd point out the odor to the salon staff and express your concern, and ask that it be thoroughly cleaned before you take it.

wow, is it a synthetic material?  That;s about the only cause I can come up with

I would try the freezbreeze on the INSIDE to start, prhaps using a light gauze type fabric tgo catch any drips & drops

    NO
Next step is to take the dress to the store and tell them to fix it.  whatever,,

  • Okay I had the same problem!!  I talked to the lady and she said that some of the Maggie's have them (I told her about my smelly dress and she was like...is it a Maggie?).  Apparently it's a perservative or something in the material.  My shop cleans and steams the dress before I pick it up, so she said that would take care of it.  But you're definitely not alone!!  I saw your title and I knew you were going to be talking about a Maggie :)
