need help finding a bra

I have a slightly plunging halter dress and don't know where to get a bra. I tried this dress on at David's Bridal & they put a bra on me that was a little too easy to see. Where it comes up from the breasts doesn't lay completely flat against my skin and I'm not that comfortable with how easy it is to see the bra. I have no idea where else to go to find a bra. Thing is, I have to take the dress with my to try on a bra and that can be a pain. I thought if I could find one that plunges enough AND has a strap like a convertible bra I could have the seamstress altering it sew "belt loops" in to thread the strap through to go around my neck so it all stays together.

Am I being too picky? I think it's mostly from above that the bra can be seen, like me looking down at it. But I know if I can see it from above so can tall men at the reception. I don't want to look cheap on my wedding day!  Thanks!

  • I would definitely try Victoria's Secret.

  • You might try something like this that has a plunging U shape (with removable straps if you'd rather have strapless) This one in particular has convertible straps and can be worn halter.

    Happy bra shopping!

  • can you have cups sewn into your dress?

  • I second the suggestion of getting cups sewn into your dress.  If you're large-breasted this may not be enough support (depending on the construction of your dress).  I'm a B-C, and this is what I'm doing.

  • Victoria's Secret miraculous strapless bra is convertible and plunging... and makes your boobs look great. Esp if they're small, like mine lol.

  • If you haven't done this already, ask your seamstress for suggestions. My dress is strapless and my bra peeked out the top and she's going to engineer something so you can't see it.

  • You can get cups sewn in.  That obviously depends on how structured your dress is and how big your boobs are.

  • Victoria Secret or Dillards!!!

There are cutlets that you can stick on or an actual bra-strap kinda thingie that will work.

Go in a store and ask, and don't worry about taking your dress. I'm sure and knowledgeable lingerie sales girl can help you out!
  • MY UPDATE:  I got the bra (Deep-V Low-back multi-way pushup by Victoria's). IT IS AMAZING!!! I was worried about how low it would be in the back & that's just not a concern! It came with an "extender" that is a wide elastic band with bra hooks on each end. You hook one end to the bra, wrap it around your waist and hook the other end in back to the bra. Voila, low back! I still haven't figured out how to convert it to halter, I think they didn't include the "converter" that you hook the 2 straps together with behind your neck. I'll be calling about that tomorrow. Very happy & pleased with this bra! and a bonus...it's actually comfortable.
