Most of our wedding is very nontradional, but one thing we are sticking to is seeing each other on the big day for the first time as I walk down the aisle.
He knows nothing of my dress (which I haven't found yet, but I don't tell him anything about when I do go try them on). He has this reasoning of since he doesn't get to see me in the dress, I shouldn't get to see his outfit. I of course balked at the idea at first, but have been thinking more about letting him have this little surprise for me.
We have gone over what we both like and don't like, so we have the color and basic style picked out. Just not the exact outfit.
What do you guys think of letting him take the reins and pick it all out on his own? (with the help of our planner!)
Re: Letting my FI surprise me...
I've been in the bridal industry for years and I see now more than ever grooms want to feel they have a chance to experience the same as you do: the priceless look you will have on your face when you see him for the first time at the end of the aisle.
Just give him guidelines of colors and general style and let him surprise you. If you are working with a planner have her go with him.
Enjoy!

What do i think about a grown man picking out his own clothes? Really? I hope that he is capable of doing so. I think it is pathetic that you think he needs the help of the planner.
Now, there is nothing wrong with anyone asking for thoughts, help, advice about what to wear. However, it shouldn't be some sort of shocker that someone wants to dress himself. I suspect he does it every other day.

Not all guys have a good sense of style (just like not all girls do). For the most part, the bride is more involved in current trends and can perhaps steer her future groom away from assuming that coattails are mandatory. Obviously, if that's what either wants, that's fine. <div>
</div><div>My FI asked me to go along because he likes my style better than his own & wanted me to like what he picked. If it were up to him, he'd pink a brown suit to go along with the gray dresses. All circumstances are different. </div>

<div>That was kind of a harsh reply.</div><div>
</div><div>OP, I think it's a great idea. FI will be choosing his and his guys' attire. We're talking abut general ideas, but he'll pick the exact outfit. I'm so involved in it because my dress is a little more formal than I was originally going with so I want everyone to kind of mesh as far as formality.</div>
