I bought my wedding dress at the beginning of April 2012 for my wedding in March 2013. They said it would take six months to come in, which would be the beginning of October. This was a small bridal boutique and Maggie Sottero dress. I called two days ago to check on the order and they took my info and said they'd call back. It was only about half an hour before they closed so when they didn't get back to me that night, I wasn't worried. Now it's been two days, and I called well before closing today. They didn't answer, so I figured maybe they were helping someone and called an hour later. Still no answer. Left a message and called again an hour before they closed. Nothing. The store is like two hours away so dropping by isn't really an option. I just read a review of the store and it said a bride was quoted 6 months and the dress took 11 to get there. 11 months from April will be pretty much a week before my wedding. I'm considering having my train chopped, which is a pretty major alteration. If I keep the train, I'll just need a small bustle and a few fit alterations so not quite a big deal but a week will still be cutting it very close. I'm hoping I'm worried for no reason, but I wish they would just call back.

Re: Anxious for my dress
[QUOTE]There is absolutely no reason for a gown to take that long. And there is something fishy going on if you can't get ahold of them. I know 2 hours is a long way, but you may HAVE to go down there if you want to get to the bottom of this. You need to go prepared to stand up for yourself. This is a little bit ridiculous. You shelled out quite a bit of money (I'm assuming) and they need to be giving you the best customer service possible.

[QUOTE]I would wait until 6 months after you placed the order, then call again. If they told you six months, and it's only been 5, then it's almost certainly not in yet. And sometimes it can take a week or so for the salon to get in touch with the designer/manufacturer, them to find your order, track it down, get back to the salon, etc. Give it a few more weeks, then call and if needed, go into the store. It's too early to start freaking out:-)

This. And I'll add, because it's a small boutique, they may not necessarily hold strict to their store hours. Many bridal salons run on appts, and if they had no appts, they may have closed up shop early. That's a perk of running a small business and not being part of a large chain. OR, perhaps there was only one person and she was busy with a bride. I wouldn't freak out because no one was answering the phone.
Lovely dress
