straps or no straps?

This is the dress for my bridesmaids

The question is should we put the spagetti straps on it? It comes with skinny spagetti straps that can be attached.  Originally everyone thought yes put them on the dresses,  it was said by one girl maybe it would take away from my dress if the girls had strapless dresses like me..some people in the party have a stong opinion of straps or no straps, and now I can't make up my mind.   What do you ladies think?

  • Why don't you let each girl choose her preference since there are a lot of strong opinions? It wont look that much different, and everybody will be happy. Win - win.
  • I think spaghetti straps are very 1990s...don't worry NOTHING will take away from your dress!

  • Nothing can take away from your dress, the least of which being straps.

I think you can probably have each one make the decision for themselves. Some larger chested women like straps, some girls are fine without. It will not make a difference if some have them and some not.

    Just let them be comfortable.

I'd let them decide for themselves too. My bridesmaids all picked out the same dress (I was going to let them just do color and length) and it's pretty similar to that. My sister is large chested and is adding straps, my MOH is pretty much flat and is also adding straps, but my other two are comfortable with it as is. Strapless won't take away from your strapless dress, it's actually pretty normal to see bridesmaids with similar features in their dress as the bride's.

This 100%. The tiny straps won't look bad at all with others choosing strapless.

  • A tiny green strap will not take away from your dress.

  • i agree w/pp ... let them make their own descions. one of my bm was so happy i let her pick her own dress < they all picked their own > with straps she is flat and very uncomfortable in strapless dresses!
  • I agree with pp.  Let them each decide.  For some it seems straps are like a security blanket, and I do not think the straps will add to or deter, BTW the dress is really cute.

Let them each choose what they like and they'll all be happy.
  • I concur on letting each girl choose. For myself, I hate straps. They fall down and are a pain in the, um, shoulder. ; ) But I know some people feel really uncomfortable without them. To each her own.

My BP went with no straps for the ceremony and photos. Then, for the reception, my chestblessed best friend wore the straps so she could be comfortable. It worked out well.

  • I like it without the straps.
  • I agree with the PP in letting them choose. I'm large chested, so I'd probably go strapless for the ceremony & then put on the straps for extra support during the reception & dancing part.
  • Strapless!  Plus when I was my MOH's BM the optional straps that came with our dress were cheapies that kept unhooking themselves - huge hassle!  Just go without!  Even if you're large chested, your dress should fit you well enough that that isn't a problem!  Otherwise you need to see a seamstress.
  • let them decide, it's not a tiny bit of strap , its  not like it will make the dress a lot difference
