Anyone else getting their dress made for them?

My grandmother kindly offered to make my wedding dress for me and I was honored to accept. She made my mother's and my cousin's so I know she can do it and it will make the day so special to be able to wear something she made just for me. The problem is that I can't find any modern patterns to start her off with. Is anyone else having someone make their dress for them or making it themselves? She is not a professional so she cannot just make one from a picture or anything. Does anyone have any advice?

I am making my own gown and made a pattern myself. I do belive that this is the best way, because a premade pattern may, and most likely will not, fit you exactly. However, I am pretty sure you can find some patterns in fabric stores or over the internet. I've seen some Vera Wang patterns on ebay just recently.
