Another "Under the Dress" Question

When I started looking at dresses, I wore a full Spanx body shaper: It was like wearing a flesh-colored bathing suit! Since then I have lost 25 pounds. I asked the salesperson/owner of the bridal salon what she thought I should wear for my first fitting, which is coming up in September, based on the style of the gown (A-line) and my "problem area" (my stomach). She said, "I recommend getting a high-waisted Spanx that will smooth you out through the waist as well as the hip. Don't get  the knit/cotton type, as they're too heavy under the dress. Get the nylon type."

Has anyone worn this kind of high-waisted brief? Are they comfortable? Does the waistband roll down?

I wore something like what you're describing.  It had shorts down to mid-thigh, and the wast came up to right below my boobs.  The waist didn't roll down, and the legs didn't roll up.  I think the kind I wore were Assets from Target (made by the same company that makes Spanx, just a less expensive line, and not designed to withstand every-day wear).

I have a pair of Spax that hit right at the top of my waist (that is if I pull them all the way up) and come down to about the tops of my knees.  I actually find my pair pretty comfortable once they are in place.  The waist does roll down a bit (not so much where it is noticeable or annoying but if you are bending or sitting it is going to happen no matter what you do) but depending on the structure of your dress it may help to keep the waist in place.

I bought what you described, but I didn't end up wearing it. For my size and shape, it just added bulk rather than took away anyway (and my gown was fitted and thick enough that it smoothed everything out on its own).
They are going to be tighter than a cotton one, and you may or may not have issues with rolling. I always do... but I have a big ribcages and tiny waist so it's to be expected with my shape.

Just pop in to a Macys, DB, Nordys, etc and try a few pairs on to decide what works best for you!

I actually have targets brand of spanx type high wasted,  used them after a surgery to avoid the surgeons girdle. Yes on my fat they roll,  But if I tuck them under the bottom band of my bra all is good for the day.  Well until you have to go potty and tuck them back up again. They are very comfy (back and kidney patient)   and it reminds me to suck it in without screaming and pinching me to suck it in.

I have a pair of spanx that are biker short length on the bottom and go all the way up to my bra band. I found them to be pretty comfortable the last time I wore them and haven't had any issues with the band rolling down.

That being said, I definitely felt a lot warmer in them than had I just worn regular underwear.

I love Spanx, but there's no way I would have worn them on my wedding day. They can get uncomfortable wearing them for long hours. Just my .02

If you haven't worn the shape Spanx you're thinking of for your wedding, definitely buy ahead of time and wear it out one night to see how you feel.

I bought Spanx that goes from mid thigh to my bra line for my wedding, and wore that under my dress. It doesn't roll at all. The only time I felt too hot was after I did two line dances in a row, and I don't think that had anything to do with the Spanx. The only problem I've had with long Spanx wear is itchy thighs, but that only happens when I'm sitting down- and I wasn't sitting much at my wedding!

I have a pair of Spanx and I love them...They go right under my bra to mid-thigh. I'm thinking of wearing them under my dress on my wedding day not b/c I need them but b/c I tend to sweat between my inner thighs whenever I wear dresses. That is very uncomfortable and my spanx prevents that from happening so I'm going to wear them. They are very comfortable and will help my problem.
